I'm not so sure about Matsozaka as a closer either, he has a habit of loading the bases. I'm not the biggest fan of Collins but as they say, "you can't cross the finish line without the horses".

Yes, Davis has talent but the trade had to happen for Davis' sake and New York's sake. All the best of luck to him.

Glad you got out to fish Doc. We're signed up for the weakfish contest in May. As I was registering, they told me that the limit is 1 weak per person, that law changed a few years back, so that sucks. But there is also a prize for biggest blue and biggest fluke. Looking forward to getting out and this will at least be a motivator. Will let you know how we do.

My hapless Mets squeaked out a win. I admire the grit and guts that Collins puts forth, but as we've said, he just doesn't have the horses offensively. Although Duda jacked another homer last night, hopefully that's a start of things to come for him. Now we just need to see Granderson get going, at least he snapped an 0-22 by getting a hit last night too.

Very exciting game.Good news to see Niese pitch well.Yeah, Grandy has sucked with a capital S.He better get in gear and produce.Duda has pop in his bat and if he could get consistent, it would really benefit.We're playing a World Series club here very well.

I would sit Granderson for a night or two, just to let him re-group. He has way more talent then he is showing.

I think I just heard that Abreu is starting tonight. Would be a good time to shuffle the outfield a little.

Geez, three out of four with the Cards! And that's with the hitting still poor.If these guys can crank up the RBI
's with the pitching staying good!

Good to see Abreu get a hit and contribute.Colon the other day was splendid.Can't believe a 40 year old can flummox the crap out of these youngsters,LOL!

I'll take RBI's all day and all night, but the team is just so lacking offensively, like we've been saying ad nauseam. Colon was a bit of a gamble with what they're paying him, but he's been good so far, hopefully he holds up. 105 pitches is a lot for an old guy.

A win is a win...take 'em while we can get 'em! I don't question how or why.....but we are above .500 so there ya go!

People were saying how bad the Davis trade was. Ike Davis is 0 for his last 14. He is in a slump. His average is .196. When Davis goes into a slump, it takes a while for him to get out of it. I think Duda is a more consistent hitter than Davis. I think the Mets made the right choice in keeping Duda.

Davis definitely had issues with going into slumps but is a lot more limber than Duda, and thus a better first baseman from the standpoint of a position player. Duda is more of a power hitter, he just has to stay consistent and learn to hit lefties better. The team is starving for power. Needless to say, nice 'w's this weekend.

True about Davis, he is a better first baseman than Duda, but Davis' dead bat killed more rallies than I can count.Personally, I don't think he has what it takes to be a major leaguer, minor league at best.We'll see about that with him at Pittsburgh.Hopefully, Duda gets more consistent and makes up with his bat what he may flub on the field.Definitely think we should be looking for an outstanding hitting and fielding first baseman if Duda craps out this season.

Just noticed Milwaukee recorded it's 19th win.Who has twelve saves in that run? Francisco Rodriguez, one of the best relief pitchers the Mets ever had and gave away.Nice job for trading him away,wish we had him now when this closer situation blows up in our face!

Although they've been holding their own, I think that Alderson gets an F for his work on the bullpen/closer roster since he was hired. At this moment I think it's safe to say that Omar Minyah was a better evaluator of talent. I wasn't thrilled with everything move that he made, let that be clear, but they were a better team under his regime. Maybe they'll prove me wrong this year.

Mets beat the Phillies 6-1.Another great performance by Niese. He's 2-2 with a 2.20 ERA.The last time the Mets had 15 wins in April was 2007.

15-11 this month

I think the reason that they gave him away was because of the incident that happened.

Braves lost last night so now the Mets are just 2 games back in second along with the Nationals. Mets have the 2nd best record in the NL. I know it's early but the Mets are off to a good start. The pitching has been great. We just need the hitting to come along.

Mets = 15-11

Yanks = 15-11

Sorry, Mugsy, I have to disagree.Nothing less than a World Series win is a successful season for the Yanks.They don't count division or ALCS victories at all.

What the frig is wrong with Wheeler, 5.13 ERA? That's horrible.Colorado going through our starting pitching like a steamroller.Only good thing yesterday was Granderson homered, a flicker of hope on the hitting side.Back to earth after a nice starting run in April.
