jackson Hole/Yellowstone 6/7-6/12
Hey Frank,
My wife and I are heading for a relatively short vacation out west in Wyoming and I'm getting a bit concerned about the weather. I noticed storms are in the forcast almost daily. I read the Noah weather discussion for that region and they seem to hint at convective potential almost daily in the long term.
Any thoughts or hope to offer? I appreciate and value your insight.
Thank you
Manny

Hello Manny,
Unfortunately what you read appears to be accurate. There is going to be upper air energy coming down the mountains that will run into instability to create showers and thunderstorms. Your best day may be the morning of the 7th. Keep in mind, though, thunderstorms like to develop in the afternoon and they can be hit or miss. You could get lucky and have some miss to your south.
Monday 6/8 1pm - steady rain
Tuesday 6/9 7pm - steady rain
There's a chance rain will be even heavier between the 10th-12th. These systems like to change a lot though so remind me for another update later this week ans hopefully I will have better news. For now, it does look soggy.
Temps also look to be on the cool side. Upper 40's to mid 50's.
Here is Monday
Tuesday
Wednesday

lol my luck. ..well I really appreciate the details!
So thunderstorms more than steady rain..Are these likely to be severe/strong or is it too early to tell?
Hard to imagine they would be with temps that cool but I know it's different with the climatology out there.
I really appreciate your time! I guess there's always the option for storm chasing worse comes to worse

Should not be strong. Mainly steady rain is my guess. But please ask for an update later this week. If I remember I will do it.

Sunday the 7th looks like you will be dealing with some clouds and occasional rain showers
Wednesday the 10th looks like there could be some showers as energy downslopes the mountains.
Other than that, it actually does not look too bad. Your best days will be 11th and 12th with warmer temps near 70
