I would expect temperatures to bust high for the foreseeable future at least till the El Nino is gone. with such a warm Pacific Atlantic and Gulf I don't think models or climo will have a handle on temperatures. they haven't all winter. this was probably the strongest El Nino on record and they are rare so really can't blame the models or forecasters. never wanna see a strong El Nino again. what works for us is weak or neutral enso. we need the polar jet to be the dominant driver in winter.

the Central Park temperature dropped 3 degrees in the last hour as the winds have shifted south so we now have an offshore flow. We have sea breeze development in early March unbelievable. Long Island still has temperatures in the upper 40s and low 50s

I always found early season sea breezes to be awesome. Here is how far today will push per HRRR before surface cooling begins and it pushes even farther inland...

Me too, I find them interesting..esp around here with our unique shoreline.
They can be fustratung too. Sea breeze is making its presence felt somewhat now here temps falling back a few degrees into low 60s.

C/W NJ is a good place to be for early heat and severe season, in the coastal plain but far enough from the coast.

a gorgeous day today made it up to 67 degrees currently I am at 56th degrees. I think tomorrow I'm going to be at 75 for the high but I won't be surprised to see if South Jersey and Western PA will see near 80 degrees unbelievable

Amen to that Al. I said this winter would suck and so did you, when I heard the phrase strong super El Niño back in late summer. One storm does not a winter make. This March the way it's going may make this the worst winter ever. I had it ranked as third worst going into March. Only 97/98 and 2001/02 beat it.
