Re: April Obs & Discussion
38* here now. low was 32*
Didn't get quite as cold as some predicted. Mostly spared a hard freeze in NYC. Think Central Park got to 30*, but low 30s at LGA, JFK.
Hoping we can turn the corner on spring now.

Hit 54° today, but a little breezy. Was outside for about 4 hours and my face is sunburned. Again. April sun is getting stronger!

Re: April Obs & Discussion
After tomorrow we're finally looking at a stretch of seasonable weather. Temps should rebound to nornal and we should stay fairly dry through the weekend. The next threat of rain, after tomorrow, may not come until the following week. I'm not ruling out a spotty shower on Friday or Saturday this week though. Some instability around from an offshore low.
I recall telling people, at least at work, it would be a chilly spring. Strong El Ninos tend to drag the cool weather into the spring because the ridge that's been over Canada collapses, the NAO tends to go more negative, and this drives the cooler air into the eastern CONUS.
It's possible by the end of the month we go through a stretch of well above normal weather. Some model hint at a -PNA forming which would amplify the southeast ridge.
Lastly, my lack of posting has been mainly due to work travel and just a busy period in general. Lots of changes occurring from within so it places more responsibility on me. Funny, my mom was telling me the other day "you know, you always use to be on your laptop after school or work blogging and telling me about the weather a month from now. I hardly see it from you now."
She didn't upset me in the least. It just made me pause for a second. NJ Strong, and really people who I've known for a long time and had the pleasure to meet, has been a huge part of my life. Meteorology for me is a hobby, but having the opportunity to make friends with so many of you is a blessing. I don't mean for this to sound sad but I do feel guilty when I go days or even a week without making a single post. I check in daily to see what Mugs, Scott, and the rest of the crew has to say. And it's great to see them and many others post away because I feel like I never saw that back in the old days. People use to rely on me, now I'm relying on others.
Anyway, I hope once things settle down I'll be able to get back to posting daily. I looked into upgrading the forum through a professional Web designee but the money these people ask for is insane. So I have other ideas I hope to put in the works lage summer or early fall of this year. I have a great vision for this forum but with how things have gone it's been tough to focus. Oh, and I'm starting my Masters in September. So it's a tough road ahead but I'm just glad there's terrific people who post here daily.
Ciao for now

While we miss you being able to post more frequently, I think everyone here gets busy with life in general on occasion and completely understands you can't be on here 24/7 when you have professional and personal responsibilities. So good luck with everything and hope everything is well. Looking forward to whatever you have on tap for the site later this year. And good luck with your Masters!! I'm sure you'll do great. I did post-grad work (law school) while working full-time. It is very challenging, but well worth it.

27 this morning.
I've never seen the NWS post freeze warnings this early in the season for the HV, they usually don't post those till the last week of April or early May. The incredible warmth of March and the first couple of days in April jump started the growing season a month early for many trees and plants so this is the result.

Was checking out some models...crazy how dry it's going to get. Not drought-like, but besides scattered showers next Monday or Tuesday it should be dry. Temps rebounding into the 60s and 70s with High Pressure in control. SPRING IS HERE

I could do without backdoor cold fronts. The one last year that came in the early morning hours of April 7th had an impact for days. Unfortunately, I do think they will occur.

@ Frank - thanks for the words in your post the other day - this board is in good hands with respect to the weather - You have to watch Scott though - I heard he is in the OTI asylum self committed after this winter - hahaha!!
Best of luck and congrats on your new endeavour with your MAsters - I remember when I did mine back before yuo were born? 1992-95 - at teh advent of the PC - 126 page thesis for God's sakes and Comps (take home - 6 out of 8 questions with 2-4 parts each question - 6 days to do them! - 88 pages worth).
If there is anything you need for this educational journey please let me know and I will see what I can do.
Onto teh weather - chilly morning 38* here but look at what is coming IF it verifies :
Big change from last Sunday- No?
Monday woo hooo spring!!
End of next week saying 70's and low to 80's - we'll see and a couple of cooler days sandwiched in between next weekend - typical April weather - up and down
