Could be looking at an extended heat wave last the 10 days of July. High Pressure will take control over the western U.S. which will send temps soaring into the 100s for many states. This heat is likely to travel east-northeast as the southwest flow kicks in. While it may not hit the 100s, unless you're near MD, we'll see many 90+ degree days. Additionally, the Azores High tends to travel west (Bermuda High) this time of year and that could put us under a ridge the end of this month. 12z GFS was hinting at that. With sea surface temps running well above normal over the western Atlantic I would not be surprised to see that happen. The Jersey Shore is seeing their best beach weather in a long time. Water is getting warm but it's also so clean and blue. Summer baby...

I have not hit 90* the last 4 days. 89 for three days and 88 thurs which was worst day by far with dp in mid 70's. Sat and today were not hot to me but perfect mid summer weather with highs around 90 and dp in the low to mid 60's. Heat indices were close to high for the day which are only about 5* above normal for this time of year. Through 17 days of july most reporting stations are between 0 and +1. Hardly a hot summer past the halfway point.

Potential for more severe wx outbreaks with all that heat or with the hp will it stay calm. This year so far I have seen more big tstorm than in a long time. Esp thurs tgat one was wild. I see slight is just north of city for tomorrow. Maybe we see some good storms again. Not a big beach goer but I'm sure it's gr8!

Whole area is under slight level of severe storms (just updated about 15 mint ago to extend further south), SPC says long line segments will be forming and main threat is wind damage (seems to be the theme these past few weeks) and a tornado cannot be ruled out over a large area of the NE down to just south of the city and east.

JMAN for you - with full sun we'll have good instability for this line of t-storms to roll through here this afternoon and possibly again tonight.

Theres gonna be two lines? Ohh fun lol, I have actually been getting in on the action this year and already more than once. Any time frame on the first line? I like to be home and was hoping it be later in the afternoon, hard to see storms good where I am at work.

It sure is. I've noticed several times this season where storms / t-storms have fizzled as they crossed in NJ from PA.

The rain is being driven in sideways with such force that it looks like a mist but it's pouring. Thunder and lightening sounds like a branch snapping. My street is flowing with water like a shallow river.   Gosh..it's beautiful. Temp dropped to 90 from 92.
