Got this from weather.gov. Posted at about 12:15 PM
SITUATION OVERVIEW
------------------
EVERYONE SHOULD RUSH THEIR HURRICANE PREPARATIONS TO COMPLETION NOW
AND ANY REMAINING RELOCATIONS OR EVACUATIONS SHOULD BE EXPEDITED AS
CONDITIONS WILL DETERIORATE VERY RAPIDLY LATER TODAY.
HURRICANE MATTHEW IS PASSING JUST EAST OF ANDROS ISLAND IN THE
BAHAMAS THIS MORNING, AND IS GAINING STRENGTH AS IT MOVES THROUGH THE
NORTHWEST BAHAMAS.
MATTHEW REMAINS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS HURRICANE THAT WILL MOVE NEAR
THE COAST OF PALM BEACH COUNTY LATE THIS EVENING AND TONIGHT. IT IS
EXPECTED TO BE A CATEGORY 4 HURRICANE AS IT MOVES NEAR THE COAST,
BRINGING THE POTENTIAL FOR DEVASTATING DAMAGE ACROSS COASTAL PALM
BEACH COUNTY IF IT DEVIATES ANY TO THE LEFT OF TRACK. ELSEWHERE, THE
MAIN CONCERN REMAINS THE POTENTIAL FOR WIDESPREAD TO EXTENSIVE DAMAGE
ACROSS THE REMAINDER OF PALM BEACH AND BROWARD COUNTIES AS WELL AS
AROUND THE LAKE OKEECHOBEE REGION WHERE THERE CONTINUES TO BE A THREAT
OF HURRICANE CONDITIONS. PLEASE DO NOT FOCUS ON THE EXACT FORECAST TRACK.
SQUALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THE OUTER RAIN BANDS OF MATTHEW ARE BEGINNING
TO IMPACT PORTIONS OF SOUTHEAST FLORIDA. THESE BANDS WILL CONTINUE
INCREASING IN FREQUENCY AND INTENSITY THIS AFTERNOON. GUSTS TO
TROPICAL STORM FORCE ARE POSSIBLE WITHIN THESE BANDS AS THEY MOVE
THROUGH SOUTH FLORIDA. ISOLATED TORNADOES CAN`T BE RULED OUT, MAINLY
OVER BROWARD AND PALM BEACH COUNTIES THIS AFTERNOON AND TONIGHT.

Old T - he could get as low as 920 by landfall - he is over the warmest waters right now - teh Gulf Stream and is bombing out. Recon had instrument issues and had to return so teh picked up an auxiliary plane - this is nuts!!

I dunno about coming up the coast, if you see the thread matthew part2 RB talks in a video about how its possible but if Matthew weakens to a TS the chances aren't there and he will just pither out.mwilli5783 wrote:so is it still possible that matthew does this loop and head back to the bahamas by mon night, then comes back up the east coast all the way to ny?

It looks like its turning north and the HRRR and extreme western edge and western spread of landfalling models in eastern Florida will bust, but what do I know.

To my eye it looks like the NW side of Matthew is pretty disorganized and it looks to be moving almost due north. Maybe Florida gets spared the worst with a last minute shift east.

Re: Hurricane Matthew Southeast Coast Discussion Thread
I was gonna say something earlier but wanted to wait a few hrs to see if it was a wobble, its moving north or NNW....imagine it spares FL, but then umm, does that then put us back in the picture? Does that mean the WAR is not as strong and it would have more of a chance to get further north? I bet probably not but it would def change track completely.syosnow94 wrote:To my eye it looks like the NW side of Matthew is pretty disorganized and it looks to be moving almost due north. We're out of the picture. 99% sure.
And Matthew is undergoing an ERC. Eye Replacement Cycle. He'll restrengthen then go back to WNW movement.

Notice the heavy banding wrapping around the western and now southern flank of the eye wall. He will be stronger in another 12hrs.
