2017 Mets Season

Post by Dunnzoo on Fri Nov 11, 2016 3:13 pm

Well, it looks like we won't have Big Sexy next year. He sure is fun to watch! Too bad he went to the Braves though.....

I was very sad to hear about that.He did get like 12 million and we were only going to give him 7.I think we should have signed him, his value off the field with the young pitchers is priceless.Oh well.I guess they are betting on healthy Harvey, Wheeler, Matz,Thor and De Grom.If they stay healthy, then we can absorb Colon's loss.I'm thinking they want that money for Bruce and Walker.

Colon really wants the record for most wins by a Dominican and he won't get the at least 10 starts he needs to get there with the Mets healthy pitching staff. 2017 tickets go on sale Friday, LGM!

Very nice to hear.Hoping Conforto can have a better year, but the problem is playing time. With Cespedes, Granderson and Bruce set as the everyday outfielders, Conforto wont be used enough.Like Lugo a lot from last years performances.

Got tickets for 3 games already, including Opening Day. Duda still having back problems, Conforto may get to play yet when they move Bruce up to first.

This one is good too! I have tix for the exhibition game Friday, Opening Day Monday, and Friday April 7th... 3 games it the first week, with more for May and June. To say I'm excited is an understatement! LGM!

Re: 2017 Mets Season

Post by Math23x7 on Sat Apr 01, 2017 7:38 pm

Here are my predictions for the 2017 MLB Season.  Here I will simply use playoff seeding:

NL:
1: Cardinals (Central)
2: Dodgers (West)
3: Braves (East)
WC-1: Nationals
WC-2: Mets

WC game: Nationals over Mets
NLDS: Cardinals over Nationals; Dodgers over Braves
NLCS: Cardinals over Dodgers

AL:
1: Texas (West)
2: Yankees (East)
3: Tigers (Central)
WC-1: Cleveland
WC-2: Red Sox

WC game: Cleveland over Red Sox
ALDS: Texas over Cleveland; Yankees over Tigers
ALCS: Yankees over Texas

WS: Cardinals over Yankees

Mets: 86 wins
Yankees: 93 wins

NL Cy Young: Bartolo Colon
NL MVP: Daniel Murphy
AL Cy Young: Justin Verlander
AL MVP: Gary Sanchez
NL Manager of the Year: Brian Snitker
AL Manager of the Year: Joe Girardi
WS MVP: Yadier Molina

Now before you come after me asking why the Cubs are not here, I think it will be a very injury plagued year being hungover.  Five of the last six defending champions failed to make the postseason and the one that did got the second wildcard spot.

As far as the Mets goes, I am skeptical that the rotation will get it fully together, especially with the injury concerns.  Also, this team is still reliant on the long ball as opposed to the small ball team I would like to see.

I was there, great day at Citifield. Got sunburned tailgating and froze my a$$ off sitting in the shade in the upper deck! I swear there was a 20° difference. But a fun day and a win!

This morning is one of the few mornings I am glad to read of a Met loss last night.
Alderson and the Wilpons should be ASHAMED of themselves for not picking up Colons one year contract. He helped us get in the World Series and the one game playoff .He was very valuable for the younger players and a great clubhouse spirit. He also was a fan favorite as well, I'm sure he brought many people into the ballpark just to see him. They gave Wright that huge contract, which I am not disagreeing with.I'm making the point that Colon has contributed as much as Wright has especially since Wright is finished and should retire.JMHO.

Jay Bruce is one terrible outfielder. Let Conforto play!

This team is 2-3 through its first five games. In 1986, 2015, and 2016, through the first five games, the Mets were 2-3.

That being said, I don't like how the Mets continue to rely on the home run ball. Also, Wheeler and Gsellman were not at their best. And actually, every game through May 7th is against a divisional opponent.

You can't score runs if your leadoff hitter is 1 for 19. And Bruce sucks in the outfield.

Definitely NOT the start this team had in mind.Injuries to Cespedes, Duda, D'arnaud, Walker and Reyes can't hit worth a damn and the relief staff giving up games left and right.Collins' patience with Reyes must be running thin.I'd bench him a few days and use Flores at third.Only silver lining to this cloud is I would rather this be happening now than in mid September.Well, Lagares and Conforto now have a chance to show what they have.Hamstring injuries last a while, don't expect to see Cespedes for a couple of weeks at least.
