Hey SNOWMAN the GFS had orange county and NEPA for 30-40 inches on Tuesday, we can only dream.
Just took the first measurement of the morning. 2.5 inches here on the snowboard, grass is covered and the trees but roads and driveway still relatively clear. 29.5 with moderate snow.

Good Morning SNOW MAN.It's picking up in intensity here now.NWS says it will continue until 12 noon and radar seems to verify that.Just very happy to see winter come back, snowpack again, cold temperatures return and a monster lurking in the upper atmosphere! A snow weenies dream come true! As Yogi Berra always said..."it ain't over til it's over!" You can get snow up here right into the first week of April.Kudos to the long range crew, they were seeing this a few weeks ago.

RB getting out to an early lead...let's see if he can withstand a late push from the eastern areas...probably LI.
Yeah hopefully LI is just spotting him a head start. We shall see though. I thought the boundary of the initial over running was going to be a tad further S to include LI, but the axis/boundary remained west to east up through the HV and through CT

OK, CP, another step closer to our 50 inch average.Mon to Weds could blow that sky high,LOL.I'm getting optimistic about the big one, the closer we get, the better it looks.NWS even mentioned the storm could come close enough for mixing S and E of I 95.You know what that means up here, a Hudson Valley Special!!!!

Basically. The colors indicate visibility; green is unrestricted, blue is like 3-5 miles I think, and then red is less than 3 miles. The purple asterisks are actually stations reporting snow. Two asterisks are light snow, three is moderate, and four is heavy.
thank you for explaining!!

SNOW MAN I don't think you are quite finished just yet. There are a few strong bands to your west. As this system starts to change its trajectory from west to east to a more WSW to ENE we should et at least some back filling. You can see the snow shield beginning to expand on adar and the look of a rotation to the precip shield as well.

If I get that much snow in one shot. I'll be giving this Winter an A+.
Still snowing moderately. Temp dropped to 35* and the snow is covering the grass, but not the pavement yet.

Thanks Doc. I'll have to give my wife a call and see what's happening at home. I know the humidity is rising on my weather station so that's a good sign.

Yes, SNOW MAN, the long range crew here are just incredible.I have said in the past it's like attending Meteorology College.I can't follow a lot of it, lost too many brain cells at my age,LOL, but I do pick up some of it and they were seeing this pattern change a few weeks ago with the blocking returning and the other elements coming together for this possible massive snowstorm coming.
29.4, 85%. 29.63 F, moderate snow.Roads and walks almost completely covered now.Radar looks good to that 12 noon ending.

I'm looking forward to another cold weekend, except this week I'll have my mantle of white instead of brown and BORING.

37* with light rain and snow mixed. A few more flakes starting to mix in with rain drops so probably transitioning to all snow as we speak. Ground is just wet now.

With ground warm and wet, and sun up behind the clouds, I suspect even after the switch to snow here, if this is ending at noon there will be little accumulation on any paved surfaces. Which is fine, I'm not greedy, I'll wait for Tuesday.

Nothing north and west of IPT is significantly reaching the surface, Scott, just FYI (at least from the synoptic part; lake effect is, though) lol so that heavier band is technically the back edge, which is rocketing across PA

3.1 inches here 29.3 degrees and light snow
Intensity has decreased quite a bit the last 15 minutes, hopefully another burst to come. If we can get to 5 inches I would consider this storm a huge success.

Wet snow here in Manhattan, paved surfaces are warm and precipitation came in later than expected; not really sticking yet, at least not here. Hoping I won't have to shovel later at home on Long Island; need to save my back for Tuesday! TGIF everyone...

Down to 31 here. all non-paved surfaces covered. Walked from my parking spot to my classroom and was harassed about my "prediction" the entire way. Oh boy!!
