wow....that really is a heavy schedule...but just seeing how thorough and thoughtful you are with your posts...I know you can do it!! your family must be proud....do you need a cookie care package..I am sad this year..my son started junior  high so no more class mom duties or baking duties.(only one or two events that need my help this year)..so I don't mind making a care package for you and your friends... Smile
Your too nice! This is my last really crazy semester. Next semester is Dynamics again, Meso meteorology, Synoptic II, another graduate class, and current weather seminar so busy again, yet not as crazy mathematically as this semester. Finish line is close...

hey I am serious...pm your address at school and you will get a surprise package or two this semester!! I have been on the baking committee for the pto for the last 7 years...haven't poisoned anyone yet!!

I copied this from the Jose thread.

helluva storm this Jose. WOW!!!! 10 more days of tracking for a little breeze and some showers Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Sad

2 big takeaways/lessons for me

1. If Frank and Scott are absent from most of the conversations going on in a thread then IT's NOT A THREAT. I should have known better

2. You can still golf during a hurricane

Called the dealer today, said I don't need to pay a shipping charge for my NEW SNOWBLOWER as the Ariens rep is going to bring it with him when he comes in.

Did he tip as to what he feels are some of the main drivers behind that logic?

Scott no not all but is very coercing due to his tremendous ability to call these over the years.
Sneak peak at Jim Witt's long range calendar is bad too.
We'll have to see.
Sorry to be the bearer of such.

Most mets I've seen have predicted a mild fall. Not sure about winter though.

In my mind. We have a huge Scandinavian Ridge that will propagate blocking west of it and a big trough coming in late next weekend so just looking at the pattern. During these transit we can get a good coastal. Remember models don't always showing these goods but the pattern does. Just one man's call here jman.

A POTENT SUNSPOT IN THE OFFING? In early September, monster sunspot AR2673 emerged with shocking speed and proceeded to unleash a pair of decade-class solar flares. The resulting severe geomagnetic storms sparked Northern Lights in the USA as far south as Arkansas on Sept. 8th. Now, the sunspot is coming back. The bright loops in this photo from NASA Solar Dynamics Observatory herald its approach:
Wx Banter Thread 2.0 - Page 4 Return_strip2

For the past two weeks, AR2673 has been transiting the backside of the sun, carried around by the sun's 27-day rotation. It is due to return in the next day or so. The loops, shown above, trace the AR2673's towering magnetic canopy, coming into view before the sunspot itself. Will it be as potent as before? Probably not, but stay tuned!

Tom Petty dead of a heart attack.

One of my all time favorites. It's been a real crappy last year for losing music legends but for me personally this one is the hardest of all of them.
