The last time NYC had a two or 3 month stretch of below normal temperatures was January 2015 through March 2015. I recorded 59.8 inches of snow during that period NYC (Central Park) recorded 49.1 inches of snow. That was also the period NYC went 50 consecutive days with snow on the ground, NYC also had 44 consecutive days of at least 6 inches of snow on the ground during that stretch. I had forgotten how nice that winter was, and only three years ago. Snow and cold, it still can happen.

I also have to add that soon afterward is when we began the nightmare streak of 22 months in a row of above normal temperatures. I'm hoping too never see that again in my lifetime.

Coating here. Snow lightened up considerably. Whatever is going on just s of LI with the radar looks to be creating an area of subsidence here in Nassau County. Major screw hole. 3-4” from Philly due east incoming everyone else 1”. Book it

Very light snow has started about 10 minutes ago everything is getting a nice coating

Starting the 3rd hour of snow now in Bayville. 1st hour (8:15-9:15) was a very heavy snow, about 1". Last hour (9:15-10:15) was God-Awful...light as can be. Hour #3 is shaping up great...heavy snow again and dark blues on the radar!

Nice burst here now at 20*

Somehow we've eked out 0.7 inches so far. Would like another 0.3 just to bring the monthly to an even 1 foot.

yea Hyde same here about an inch and still snowing nice little surprise! Now lets get a big one next week.

Snow had almost tapered off here, now coming down steady again. I think we’re catching the edge of that last heavier band. Probably it’s last gasp though.

Yes, anything we can add to our 3 inches from Christmas eve is welcome. 15* and snowing, this is what winter is supposed to be in the hudson valley. I'm liking the trends for next week, fingers crossed.

Approaching 1”. Just about there. Had 1 hour straight of moderate snow which dropped 1/2”. Another solid moderate band looks to move in now and last a couple hours. Maybe can get near 2” and eek out 12” for December which would be awesome. Probably fall just short though.

At least we have snow on the ground to accompany all this cold.

23* and still a solid snowfall coming down. Probably about 2" now.

A nice 3 inch layer covering everything. December like it's suppose to be.
