Re: January Obs and Discussions
Currently 50 degrees here in South Jersey. Today felt like March, with the snow melting, muddy ground, and pond ice thawing. I'm looking forward to the return of the cold and snow chances after this thaw.

Re: January Obs and Discussions
All the models are showing pretty strong wind gusts tomorrow evening (40-60) I am sure the high end is way overdone but the low end can and has verified, overdone probably but the blizzard was pretty spot on with the SR models so why is there no mention of any wind threat with the ice? Are the maps just plain wrong as usually is the case?

Exactly Jim, I never mentioned anything about backend snows regarding this event. My only concern for this setup, and it still is a concern, is several hours of sleet and or freezing rain or both for Saturday morning for the areas N & W of NYC. The 850's are too warm for this to be much of a snow concern except possibly a bit at the tail end.

Looks more likely now CP you are right about that frozen precip in our neck of the woods.I was concentrating more on the back end snows of these big rainstorms after the temps shoot up then crash.

Re: January Obs and Discussions
What a big difference from last week to today last week we were dealing with severe cold dangerous windshields. To a foggy mild 52 degrees would heavy rain later on today and it's supposed to be 60 degrees thank God it's only for one day then we go back to the freezer

My fingers are crossed, CP. I was checking out the NAM and that would more than make up for what I've missed out on so far, but I'd be happy with the 6-10 being called for.

Yes, good for you Aresian!!! Hope you cash in big on this one. It's been a long time that I have seen a snowstorm take that track, it's always been near the coast these last few years.

12z NAM still shows precip left when temps fall below freezing all the way down to the coast. At the very least we will have to watch for a flash freeze

DODGING A BIG BULLET HERE ON WESTERN/CENTRAL LI!. All snowpack gone, but ground still pretty frozen so the water is not soaking into the ground that quick at all. The lucky part is we’ve only received less than 1/10” of rain and therefore flooding has been a non issue. I was sure this morning I’d have to be out in my yard all night long in my fishing waders moving water to protect the basement. Incredibly foggy though.

.....still can’t believe how lucky I am. East of me getting crushed. West getting crushed worse. I’m dry slotted. Still less than 1/10” rain. No flooding issues. Ground thawing out. Looking good

38.8° and dropping steadily.
Which will come first 32° or the end of the precip?
Wonder how TheAresian is doing snow wise. WSW for 6-12 there, hoping he's in the 10-12 bullseye.
