You can see the 925 freezing line is now along the coast, cutting LI in half...right where Jimmy has said he has changed over, Nassau/Queens a little whereas, me and Alex in Suffolk County have not. Surface Temp is still 36.3* by me. Jimmy whats your surface temp?

Re: January 16th-17th Snow Event
15 minutes ground already white on colder surfaces. Looking at radar we might snow decently another 4 hours here. Coastal surprise?
Surface temp 33. I think we eek out near 2” based on radar. Your thoughts?

Surface low passing right over the BM. I may get a little change over afterall. May not accumulate though with current surface temps; even on the grass. Ill take some white rain though.

Re: January 16th-17th Snow Event
Light to moderate snow, maybe 3.25 inches, and radar tells me about an hour left.Definitely an underperformer here and way below WSW levels NWS posted.Amazing I got the 3 considering the abysmal rate of snowfall all night.

27 and still snowing lightly here. Eye balling 7 to 8. It has been snowing since 9am yesterday. It was light for much of day then picked up after dark. There was a band orientated from sw to ne from Poconos to central Dutchess to eastern Mass that did not want to move.

Re: January 16th-17th Snow Event
Welp, I apologize for being a naysayer, folks. This storm surprised me on the whole. I did not think anybody in our area would eclipse 3". Several locations, albeit very scattered, have reported totals in excess of 6", with many in the 3-6" range northwest of the main corridor. Certainly more than I thought would fall, and I still can't honestly understand how, but a bust is a bust. Enjoy your white gold, everybody!!

Roads are getting treacherous including the Northern State and the LIE. APOROACHING 1” on the coldest surfaces. 1/2” most everything else.

Well well. I couldn’t stand my rain so I got on the northern state going west. As soon as I crossed the Nassau border sign snowflakes began mixing in. Now I got off at exit 36 on the syosset exit and all snow. Horsesh*t
