I will refer back to this in the future if a situation arises where I can’t go out and measure at night and must measure several hours later. I’ll trust Mike to help me find this post.

Bill. I believe the compression rate is highest during the first several hours. I will do the same thing tonight when it's below freezing to see. My thoughts are it will be less so. Some of it also depends on the consistency of the snow. Drier snows fill in the gaps once they finish and compress because of their fluff factor, for lack of a better term, and the wet snows compress more from their weight since there are less gaps to fill.

I will post tonights results tomorrow. It might even warrant t's own thread for the four other people other than you, Mike, doc and myself that might actually find this interesting.
Yes very good points. Amount and wetness of snow could impact on the rate. I would believe the compression would be greatest in the hours immediately after as it can only compact so much. These will have to be accounted for as well.

Picked up another inch overnight, which makes an additional 2" since the storm. Still snowing lightly, and our snowpack continues growing. God, I love this place!!!!

My temp is only 32*. Not much melting of my snow pack yet. Even m pine trees still have snow on them. The snow pack has compressed, but still looks to be about 14 inches covering the landscape.

Lol. CP just seeing this now. Wow, don’t know what happened. When I attached the link it had dozens of reports from every county in their area. Clearly something went wrong after that. I’m thinking when they went to update it someone screwed up and wiped out the ones that were already there.

Either that or they were embarrassed by my criticism of the report from Hillsborough that I complained about in the storm thread and just decided to pull them all down. They may have heard about the legal action I filed against the Conservancy! Lol.

After a morning low of 22 I just broke 40 in the last hour for the first time in 5 days.

My kind of March so far.

Hoping the shore and LI jackpot on Tuesday. I've had a very good March so far and will not be greedy.
