Re: March Madness! Spring Snowstorm Observations Part II
Anyone have any updated info on the movement of the storm? Still stalled/crawling?

That is their expected storm totals by tomorrow morning. It's a little misleading, since some spots have already reached those totals.

A lot of people mocked their forecast totals yesterday and this morning as to high. They stuck to their guns and their being vindicated. Kudos to them

28 degrees and moderate/heavy snow still falling.
3.4 inches in the last 4 hours.
3.4 inches for the day. That was a long wait. Weird storm.
40.4 for the month.
Anyone get an update from KNYC since the 6.7 at 8:00 PM?

Cp - they just updated the totals from Upton. KNYC still has the 8 pm total. Is no one there now to record after 8 pm? What are they going to do, go back at 8 am when the snow has compacted or melted to get a final total?

I don't know if he does, but according to NWS, anyone living in Bayville do!

Can’t sleep. Puking here as hard as it has the entire storm. A foot will be reached within half an hour. Band looks to keep rotating in. Might even pick up another few.

Re: March Madness! Spring Snowstorm Observations Part II
It's utterly shocking how unexpected and how ferocious the snow was from 4-10 pm here at the coast. It's still coming down at about an 1"/hr right now. If this keeps up for another couple of hours, little Bayville, NJ might bag it's second ROIDzilla of the year! Imagine that...

Re: March Madness! Spring Snowstorm Observations Part II
During Daylight Savings Time, the date change in the NWS's mind occurs at 1 AM instead of 12 AM. That means that everything that happens between 12 and 1 AM counts as occurring the prior day. Since it is now past 1 AM, we should get a measurement soon. The 8 PM measurement was 6.7". That was after sunset. Since then, CPK has 0.17" qpf holding at 32 degrees. Now, because of the melting especially during the day on pavement, the measurement I made near the Castle in Central Park probably does not reflect the entire snowstorm. I measured just over 6" as of 9:30 PM, though we know it's much higher). But the snow has been steadily coming down. So we'll see what the next update contains.

In a heavy snow band right now.looks like 4 inches.Over 14 inches OTG again from what I had before this storm.Thought I would get totally skunked with this storm so I'm happy with that.Inching closer to 80 inches for the season.Hoping for one more snowstorm to do that!Congrats to the NJ Shore and LI folks on this one.LOL, guess that guy Harry got out of town by Sundown,LOL.He looks like a jerk with his big mouth now!Jimmy was right when he said come back at midnight,LOL.

5.2 inches all since 8:30 last night and coming down heavy still, over 14 OTG.
When I was at 0.0 inches at 8 PM last night I would have given 100-1 odds that we would not get 5 inches of snow from this storm, Very curious what the final total will be for everyone.

B-E-A-UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTIFULLLLLLLLL pics!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!! To our leader(s)/moderators: Would you mind reopening/renaming the map thread for this event for storm total observations for my project when you get a chance??
Everybody, if you would be so kind to POST YOUR STORM TOTALS IN THE DESIGNATED THREAD (when available/unlocked) I would be eternally grateful. The directions/information I'm seeking will be included so you will you know exactly what I'm looking for. The more input I get from you all, the better the result will be. Please and thank you in advance!!!

9" snowpack on the colder surfaces/grass. so I would guess close to a foot fell here when you consider melting and compression. nice storm. at 45" for the winter season. could have been an epic winter if this pattern was in late jan thru mid feb. anyway no complaining here. solid winter.

Re: March Madness! Spring Snowstorm Observations Part II
8.2" at the park at 1am. should add another inch or so at 7am as it is still snowing here in the metro area. a little odd that white plains came in at 10.5 and the park with less as the latter was under heavier bands throughout most of the storm.

Re: March Madness! Spring Snowstorm Observations Part II
Woke up to a total of 8 inches for this storm, but it's still coming down lightly. Current temp 33 and going up to 46, so it's going to start to melt before the sun comes up.
Luckily, temps will be in the 40's and into the 50's by Easter weekend so I just might be able to get a car out and go grocery shopping on Good Friday. I don't dare dig it out and move it before then because I'll never get a parking space on this block - can't get one in *good* weather!
