It looks as though south jersey is taking the brunt of the heavy rain

Re: Hurricane Season 2020-Active Season-
Frank why do you think only NJ will see affects per your scroll, storm is go make landfall right near NYC, I would think strongest winds would be in that area, however does look like rainfall is going to be highest in jersey, though we havent seen the northern or southern extent of rain and if it shifts east at all. The NWS is forecasting winds in excess of 50-60mph here too potentially.

Re: Hurricane Season 2020-Active Season-
Judging from what HH are finding north of the center I think much of the stronger winds will be ahead of the northward movement and west.

Re: Hurricane Season 2020-Active Season-
There is a clear dry air intrusion in the mid levels due to the air coming in from over the land. To be honest this has less trop characteristics and more of a nor easter IMO. Neg tilted 500mb trough interacting

Might that be why she was able to maintain to 60mph? Being hybrid?sroc4 wrote:There is a clear dry air intrusion in the mid levels due to the air coming in from over the land. To be honest this has less trop characteristics and more of a nor easter IMO. Neg tilted 500mb trough interacting

Be safe Joanne! They are still predicting the winds to be around 40 mph. Since you are on the east side of the river you may be protected from the more severe winds with the elevation to your east. If you were on the west side of the river I'd be concerned, you would be more exposed to the winds. Please keep us posted!

Re: Hurricane Season 2020-Active Season-
Yeah looks like I may not see much rain from this, its all to the west, likely due to that air intrusion. Looking like a dud for NJ/NY border east possibly. Won't escape at least some wind and intermittant showers but this is almost exactly like Sandy in terms of rain placement, i saw almost no rain in Sandy.

Where can you be on the east side of the hudson and be in NJ? Or are you talking about a different river?Dunnzoo wrote:weatherwatchermom wrote:Hey g u us is this getting stronger gear than they said 40 mph from east we are ok..but 60 scares me we are in a marinas in assigning...tied up really well.

Outer TS force winds just south of long Island and moving up into central northern nj. Winds just started kick up a bit with this band heavy rain. Latest nhc image update still has center down by Atlantic City long ways to go for us up in NYC area.

In Edison the winds here have been light but the rain has been very heavy for the past 90 or so minutes but seems to be easing up a bit

You guys think more rain will blossom into nyc atea or did we escape majority of rain? We are having intermittent light gusts of wind but I'm not expect much till center gets much closer.

Send her 150 miles east. This would devastate us if it were Jan as it would be cold rain for all. Look at that SE fetch

I didn't see thst clearly b4 looks like it'll be I termittant soaking. Just stopped after crazy half hour downpour. Winds still pretty light. No I'm not expect anything crazy but gusts 40 to 50mph I would think should happen at some pt. Maybe locally highest 60mph.sroc4 wrote:docstox12 wrote:Frank_Wx wrote:
