With the absolutely awful winter we have endured this year ( being that everyone on this forum loves cold and snow) the only thing that can maybe make up for it a bit would be a very cool, low humidity type summer.

Most likely though we will end up with heat wave after heat wave and have to endure a long brutal summer. Only winter does the opposite of what its supposed to do year after year.

Worst winter ever by far. Not just in terms of lack of snow, but temps consistently in the upper 40s and low 50s, with temps in the 30s being extremely rare. That is not how winter should be.

Dolphin, I hear you. I like a hot summer myself to enjoy the pool and go out 6:30 ish to enjoy the summer. I like a crisp, cold winter with lots of snow. Cold is good. Heating bills are not. I begrudge heating bills. I am ok with air conditioning bills for some reason.

The highest temp I have seen since I moved up here in 99:  103.7 three days in a row. The coldest:-23. What about everyone else!

No need to go nearly that far, upstate NY, meaning the Adirondack region has done okay.

Actually Chicago only averages 37 inches of snow a year. In contrast NYC averages 30 inches and many of the N & W suburbs 40 miles outside the NYC limits average close to 50 inches. It's not the snow paradise some believe, just colder.

Well thanks be to the Lord our daughters baby shower for the impending twins can go on today without weather worries. One of the few times in my life I rooted against a snowstorm!
Overall looks like the pattern will continue to face distant snow threats that don’t come to fruition. Time to think of my garden..
