Somebody probably put them on the wrong way, sat on the bed and slipped and broke their arse and sued the sheet maker. Now they have to print warnings how to do it right to cover themselves.Next, a You Tube tutorial to demonstrate the "proper" way to change bed sheets so a 40 year veteran like yourself is "schooled",LOL.
The Law Firms of Dewey, Cheatam and Howe and Shyster and Finagle handled these cases. They were full of "sheet".
This sounds like the same law firm used in the McDonalds case back in the day when the guy sued over hot coffee; burning his mouth because the coffee cup wasn't labeled as "hot coffee". I mean in his defense how was he supposed to know the coffee was hot if the cup wasn't labeled properly? Clearly the NWS is asking the same questions; so hired an entire team to make sure the Public can properly informed about how dangerous the cold really is?

The same forcing mechanisms that will likely lead to the anomalous warmth early will sow the seeds of their own destruction later I think we are just going to need to be patient this year.
Winter in the mid-atlantic is history. It's been years since we can recall having anything decent. Doesn't matter if it's la Nina or el Nino. I think patience is one thing on this board that we've learned we don't have time to give. The flips/transitions get put off for weeks and next thing you know it's spring again. Fingers crossed though.

With Bastardi and the Farmers Almanac seeming to be agreeing, it could very well turn out to be a killer winter. Most long range winter forecasts last year had this area pegged for "major snowstorms" which did not happen.
Anyway, up here at 700 feet in the LHV, some of those marginal temp storms will produce good snow while the City gets what was said back in the day "Snow, becoming mixed with and changing to sleet then rain".As rb said could be back loaded. That March 2018 was a classic snow producer, had a 27 inch snowstorm up here.

Take these long range forecasts with a grain of salt…I’ve been around long enough to know that weather forecasting can be a humbling experience. Take for instance this so called hyperactive hurricane season supposedly up on us. How’s that working out? Besides all it can take is one or two snow events to reach the average total in a given location even in the most hostile of patterns. Take 1983 for example. That winter we were in the throes of a strong ElNino. We were flooded with much above temps for the majority of the winter. Then came the massive blizzard in February. See my point?HectorO wrote:rb924119 wrote:Bastardi’s Winter forecast is out, and there’s no sugar coating it - it’s pretty brutal. That's true. I think much of what I was referring to was something I mentioned last year which was not just looking like winter but feeling like it. Sure, a 60 inch snowstorm would be epic, but if every day before that and after was mild 50s, that would suck.

Today marks the 86th anniversary of the Great New England Hurricane of 1938, aka the "Long Island Express," one of the deadliest, most destructive and powerful hurricanes in recorded history. Hurricanes arrive in our area only about once per decade on average, so they are part of the region's climate, but southern New England hasn't seen a landfalling hurricane since Bob in 1991, Long Island and Connecticut haven't seen one since Gloria in September 1985, and even the storm surge impact from Sandy in October 2012 is becoming a more distant memory. As such, people shouldn't wonder "If" the Northeast will experience another hurricane like that of 1938, but rather "When?"

My beloved Mom who passed in August 2021 at age 100 remembered this storm vividly living in Manhattan NY.Bet there aren't many eye witnesses left from this disaster.LI and CT took a direct hit and the loss of life was horrible.

There use to be a guy on facebook named Bob the weatherman. He was pretty good and seemed like a good guy. I have not seen him in months and don’t see his account anymore. Anyone know if he is ok? Just worried because he seemed like a real good guy

So we do have a member whose handle was WeatherBob who is listed as a meteorologist. FWIW He was last signed in on our sight in March. If he’s anything like me he came to the realization that Facebook has become nothing more than a toxic place for individuals to talk shit to people and pawn their opinions off as facts without any repercussions for their actions behind the safety of their computer screens.
My recollection of his posts in here are that of valuable insights whenever there has been trackable weather.
