Following up on this, we may be setting up for the coldest mid-October through at least mid-November in quite a while. I want to dig more deeply on this idea, but this blocking is ABSURDLY strong and ABSURDLY consistent. To say it’s doing a number on the Stratospheric PV is an understatement. We may very well get accumulating snows in parts of our area long before Thanksgiving. Making me think about November of 2014 with respect to scale. And this is in addition to other factors as well.

At around 12 pm, it will be 70 degrees. That's how many years I have today. 70-large. Catching up to Doc and GreyBeard. Still ahead of everyone else.

Very Happy

63 right now and the pool gets closed Sunday. A quiet September with nothing much ado with the weather. Soon Dr. Rick from Progressive will be hosting the board to talk us all down.

78 , sunny, calm.Week of warm, sunny weather ahead.

Just remember Damian, never trust anybody over 90!
I'll be 74 in November, a number that I never expected to see,LOL.I think Greybeard is older than me, and I remember another old timer as well that posted now and then.Hoping they are still active so I can still be one of the "youngsters" in here.

This will make you feel like a teenager again, Damian!

70* and Sunny. Slightly warmer than it has been, but a beautiful morning. Noticed some more leaves starting to change here. In three weeks foliage should be entering its' peak-phase in this area. So it begins . . .

We drove down the GSP to Seaside Friday and noticed leaves starting to change. Ready for the cooler weather and apple picking!

Tropical Cyclone #8, which may become a depression, lurking off the Carolina coast. May not quite become a "named" storm, but still should bring some heavy rain and wind to the Carolinas. Models seem kind of divided right now. Some don't really have it impacting us much at all. Others want to bring an area of rain into the region Wednesday into Wednesday night. GFS wants to bring an area of pretty heavy rain over a good section of NJ, whereas Euro keeps it southeast of NJ and the NAM also keeps that area of rain southeast of NJ off the Delmarva coast.

I'll gladly trade you boring weather for the next several weeks in exchange for exciting weather in December and January. lol. All of October can be Sunny and 65 degrees and I'd be happy, so long as we have a better winter than our last couple.

Even my wife who never pays attention to weather seems to be noticing cooler temps are coming. We will see if this is really so; the first chance may be in about ten days.

It is a lovely day. Yesterday I blew some leaves and today I break out the lawn sweeper. We should have a forum on just picking up fall leaves. My thinking and actions have evolved over the years. The blower and the lawn sweeper have made it so easy. To think I used to rake them all over the edge of the driveway, and in other years I raked them onto a tarp and dragged the tarp to the edge. Then I used the grass catcher bins. Then it was the leaf bag attached to the grass catcher bag tube. All have advantages and disadvantages. The best solution: have someone else do it.

Right now it is 63 and 70% humidity and as Scott pointed out, the dewpoint is where the hot action is which right now, here, is 53%. Cider donuts and coffee await.

Gorgeous day out yesterday, still able to wear shorts to CitiField, enjoy a tailgate in the sun getting a little more tan base before the winter! Today, more clouds, will need to put long pants on for the Mets game tonight as ESPN hjiacked the game.

The best solution: have someone else do it.

Or sell and find a nice rental like we did Razz

For 35 years in my home in Mahwah NJ, I raked and leaf blew tons of leaves from my 75 by 200 foot property dragging them up to the street in an old blanket.I've been in Monroe NY for 10 years and have blessedly had someone else do it all that time ,lol.

56 degrees, partly cloudy, calm winds.

Today the Shore had a real beautiful fall-like feel to it. A bit cloudy and breezy, noticeable cooler and less humid, and a nice emergence of that soul-soothing (for me anyway) fall foliage. Nothing beats a nice snow storm, but late September into November is my favorite period of weather throughout the whole year.

Yuck, nasty out. What's tomorrow look like (TWC says slight chance of a shower, but that was also todays forecast and its been raining light to moderate most of the day)? Will it be dry, hoping so as I got 2 flea markets I want to attend but if there's rain in the forecast they won't open. Not to mention also pretty breezy, must be remnants of Helene as its coming off the water in waves like from a LP. Been a while since we had a rainy Sat.

Last day of September. Trees really starting to change now. Should be hitting peak foliage in north and central NJ within the next one to two weeks.

Mostly posting this because I love looking at old weather maps from past events. Here’s one from this day in 1946 courtesy of NWS Mt Holly:
