December 2013 Observations & Discussions
Gradual warmup this week, possibly reaching the low 50's, then rain end of this week. Watching winter storm potential between 9th-11th of December. Hopefully we can get a white Christmas!!!

I should not be so quick into saying rain for this weekend. GFS showing potential ice for areas north and west

If this trends colder, could be a nice little snow event. Gotta keep an eye on it

They key to the possible storm this weekend and early next week is the alignment of the arctic front and the High Pressure to its northwest. Could be a wild weekend of snow, ice, rain...stay tuned

Definitely going to be interesting. Going to be pretty warm mid-week. Looks like its going to cool down by next Tuesday maybe.Frank_Wx wrote:Gradual warmup this week, possibly reaching the low 50's, then rain end of this week. Like I was telling sroc, we had some serious 'pea soup' fog out here last night, down to almost zero visibility in certain spots.

I was down to 30*(29.7*) this morning with a lot of frost on the ground etc. - it looked like snow on the fields up here in Allendale - maybe a preview of things to come........................

Re: December 2013 Observations & Discussions
I was watching a local weather show that's broadcasted from Penn State. It's two professor's that teach meteorology at their main campus in State College. They do a 15 minute show each night on the weather for PA. On Fridays they do a 7 and 12 day extended forecast. In their 12 day forecast they talked about a storm between the 15-17 that could possibly give the East coast a good dumping of snow. Does anyone have any thought's or information on this possibility? Thanks. We only had a trace of snow last night.

Re: December 2013 Observations & Discussions
the cold temps in nov and now should lower the ocean temps. so that by January we should not have to worry about warm ocean air affecting our storms. last year between dec 11 and 15th the air temps in ny were 47,59,44,47. these cold snaps should help down the road.
