Bit of black ice this morning, the catch basins and storm drains are full. That should make for tricky travel with the snow tonight.

You and I are in a decent spot NoFo. I think the heavier bands make it as far west as about Rt 83 (N Ocean Ave.). East of that 5-10"+ extending up into SE CT and RI. From Queens/Nassau boarder to Rt 83 = 3-6"+. Everywhere else 2-4"+.

Hmm, 3-6 on Franks's, 2-4 on NJ's. Let's see what happens.

Whichever it is, our mayor won't be happy. His face is plastered on News12NJ this morning congratulating himself on using city resources to clear the streets - finally. Dump a few more inches out there and his head may explode.  lol!

JC announced they have no salt left. Good thing I won't be out driving over there the next few days. If I can get a car out by next weekend, who knows?

Now to wait for this one to start. It's grey and gloomy out there, but the sun is trying to peek out on the rooftops.

Hazy sun peeking out in the sky. WS Warning up for east end of Long Island, Advisory to the west. I'm in Nassau, right on the Queens border so I suppose that's under 6 for me. I agree with the poster earlier who said 'no rush [as in excitement] with this storm. Last one was so dynamic, threw everything in the mother nature arsenal there is at us. Hard to feel excitement for this one, which sounds like a long, quiet snow with less accumulation rates per hour. Nonetheless since there's shoveling involved, my aching back is ready for Spring.

I'm worried about the drifting. With the melting of snow yesterday then a layer of snow on top of it, roads are going to be slick today and tomorrow. Not sure how much time you've spent on Sound Ave lately but it's been bad. People really need to slow down. An EMT vehicle actually wrecked enroute on it the other day.

Heading out shortly to take my daughter to the dentist before the flakes fly.  She lost a filling at the height of the storm on Thursday, and since Friday was a must go to work day for me, and with more snow on the way, this is our first window of opportunity. Seems like my life has been totally structured around the weather for weeks now. Thanks again to everyone here for the accurate info to help me schedule it wisely. Now if only we had a shoveling service to go with...

W0w see NWS moved things west 3-6 and 6-8 now into CT and LI.  Is this a possible trend? Could this bomb out soon enough that we get a major surprise?  I think after the storm on Thursday local mets are opening up a lot more as last night they have said 3-6 in and around city like Frank shows.  He said if it bombed out just a little sooner we would have a major storm and huge winds.  I havent been on since yesterday so what did I miss?  Not snowing here yet, WWA says 11am.  Frank said 5-7am, was that in PA or here in NY area?

Yeah that was me late last night. I said this one had no juice for me as I was exhausted from shoveling tracking and not sleeping the last week. With a good nights sleep I'm more into it today but still not hyper about it. Hoping it happens now but I'm not gonna live and die with every short term model run. I'd like it more today just to get closer to seasonal records. Honestly over 30 inch snow pack on the ground now is quite sufficient.

They have me down for 2-4. I'm actually so snow fatigued today if it doesn't happen, for the first time in a long time I'll be ok with that.

Beautiful fantasy MECS at the end of the month for us on the 06z GFS.

The 6Z is also not as impressed with the warm up next week, still 40's for 4 days or so, but the 50's thing may not ever materialize.
