Usually brings us average temps with above average precipitation. A lot of storms. If there is blocking to lock in cold air, it also means a lot of snow.

Thanks frank also it may mean less chance of major tropical storms and hurricanes but increase possibility in coastal storms

Still plenty of snowpack here....some grass showing around the edges of sidewalks, driveways etc....some under my big ol' pine tree.

Went to visit my father-in-law down the shore and he needed help with stuff and food shopping...so we didn't get to the beach...but I did get to sit in the sun out of the wind...was 57* and I must admit the sun felt GOOD!
It was a great day for a ride down the parkway thinking of the beach trips to come!

That has to be a weather channel chart. Only they would be stupid enough to post Dulles airport totals as Washington, D.C. Anyone that's been there knows that Dulles airport is in virginia a good 30-40 miles from Washington. It's like putting totals from white plains airport or Stewart airport in Newburgh as NYC totals. Their stupidity just leaves me dumbfounded.

Do the models start an hour later because of the time change? I'm not seeing the 12Z GFS yet so I'm wondering if that's the reason.

I noticed that too...its almost 30 miles due west of downtown DC. One of the suburbs N&W of DC that usually gets more snow. It is officially a Washington DC airport though. I've always seen it listed as Wash DC. Reagan National is used by local media for DC readings. As a low lying slab of concrete sticking out in the Potomac River they get paltry amounts often a little less than what actually sticks across the river in DC itself. If you don't like Central Pk you wouldn't like Reagan National either. I used to live right next to it, its a snow hole and a extra heat island within the larger heat
island.

They also have DCA as DC which would be more correct. If they only had IAD it would be stupid, they should list it as western DC area or something though.

Yea, besides the usual suburban temp difference, must be the snow or lack of.
Big spread, its 48* at CPK, 50* at LGA. Snow has been long gone around here.
