Mugs, I'll take a flurry at this point. I'm starting to curl up into the fetal position and I've already started to go through the DT's. If I don't get a fix of snow soon I may not make it to Spring. pale

Is everyone feeling better?? Good.

Hector - Spring is to come in 15 days - until ten we think winter!!

On another note if the 18Z GFS is right yuo won't see spring at all inMarch as the EPO goes to defcon 5 - insanely negative - off the charts!

Music to my ears.

CP oh great one keeper of all records - I looked or read that the first 6 days of March are 15* below normal for NYC, I think a record for the first week of March - is this correct?

I posted a few posts up about this.

Actually the first 6 days of March in NYC will be 11.0 degrees below normal. That's a nice stretch but I doubt it's a record, although I can't verify it isn't.

Yes Doc what about us? Mugs very quick to cast us overboard.

Now what about the quote. I have no clue. If I had to guess it sounds like something one of the 3 stooges would say.

CP...It's Leo Gorcey from the East Side Comedy Gang.Remember Louies Sweet Shop and Leo's sidekick Huntz Hall?

Was that from O Brother, Where Art Thou?  George Clooney?

Doc, the answer is right above.Don't know if you would remember the character that said it, but back in the 50's and 60's we grew up watching every type of classic comedy that was all over every TV Station back then.

Looks like the GFS, Canadian and Euro have somrrthing late nex week. It's far out. But it usually grabs my attention when 3 of them are all agreeing on something. GFS looks a little weaker for the area and euro looks like heavy snow. We'll see!

Cp, I resolved any issues that arise from our low temp competition. If you go to the Davisweatherlink.com website and enter SNOW MAN'S Pocono Pa weather in the address box and click go, the map will zoom in on numbers in circles. Click go again and it will show you a map, you'll see Stroudsburg on the map. Above Stroudsburg you'll see three blue dots, if you put the hand on them it will give the names of the different weather stations. I'm the one that's a little bit higher than the rest. When the my name shows you can click on it and it will show you what my conditions are, including high and low temp and what time it occurred. If you get a chance check it out and let me know what you think. Now that doesn't mean it won't stop me from putting dry ice on the sensor though. Laughing Laughing Laughing

Actually NYC is on a 34 day snowpack streak right now. If it wasn't for one day at the end of January it would be 45. A long way from the record of 58 but still an impressive streak. 2010/11 the NYC streak hit 53 tantalizing close but no cigar.

I remember 1997, 98, 99 stretch well. No significant snow. I gave up on snow back then.
After 1996, ppl started buying snow blowers, which I never seen many ppl bother buy in nyc before.
Then there new snow blowers sat dormant for 3 years.

Dtone, that is very true about everybody buying snowblowers after the '95-'96 winter.A lot of my patients did and I busted their chops those next three years when they complained of all the money they spent,LOL!

Mugs the 58 day record was before your time or my time. The winter of 47/48 saw 58 straight days of snowpack in NYC. It also saw 51 straight days of at least a 7 inch snow pack also a record. Of course that winter saw the second biggest storm of 26.4 inches on dec 26 1947. The day after Christmas seems to attract some big storms in this area.

Absolutely great work, guys, on the snowpack info.Learned a lot here.

The only one I know who remembers that Dec 26 '47 storm is my wonderful 93 year old Mom who tells a story of complete paralysis in the City of New York.Didn't realize the king of the snowpack years was '47-'48.

I thought of the '47 storm a lot the day of the Dec26 2010 Blizzard.

This was NOT in today's forecast. Right now in Brick, NJ just 4 blocks west of Barnegat Bay: 32 degrees and very light freezing drizzle!!! A small area, but it is showing on radar with much heavier rain south of me.
