I have not canceled winter just yet. But I'm close.

Question:

With the two LP so close could we see a Fujiwhara effect?

Good question. Fujiwhara effect is a bit more dramatic when two separate lows combine into one. The secondary low is kinda forming as a result of the same energy in the trough, plus the energy is just doing to transfer to the dominant low (eastern most low). So no, it's not.

Down to a 998 east of OBX. Still no accumulations on roads for me. All on colder surfaces.

@Joe Snow wrote:Question:

FYI:

When cyclones are in proximity of one other, their centers will begin orbiting (counter-clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere.)
The two vortices will be attracted to each other, and eventually spiral into the center point and merge. It has not been agreed upon whether this is due to the divergent portion of the wind or vorticity advection.
When the two vortices are of unequal size, the larger vortex will tend to dominate the interaction, and the smaller vortex will orbit around it. The effect is named after Sakuhei Fujiwhara, the Japanese meteorologist who initially described it in a 1921 paper about the motion of vortices in water.

Hey at least some of you are getting SOMETHING, nada here just cold and cloudy (and dark lol) Going to be biting windchills tomorrow even though it won't be terribly cold, 50+mph gusts will not feel to good agaisn't the face, luckily ill be inside most of the day, although admittedly I'd like to go out in it for a bit, maybe i will get to in the afternoon. Yes I live the power of wind and at this point any weather is better than the pure silence I have now.

Current radar images show snow shield advancing north and a bit west. Anyone have thoughts on this regarding nowcasting? Currently a dusting on colder surfaces here in Brick, Ocean County, NJ, and 30 degrees. Road surfaces still only wet.
