In the 50's this morning, actually had to put a sweater on in the house.Incredibly cool weather, this is late September type.
Drove up to Monroe NY Thursday and noticed early Maples trees already changing leaf colors. That, plus the cool definitely puts one in a Fall mood.
Now watch us get two weeks of high 80's with humidity in September,LOL!
Doc,
Yes that is right up there and it is only 100 miles from here - as we were driving home yesterday I said to my wife and kids - is it me or are the trees starting to change already - WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Incredible like you said - highs this past week up there were in the 60's - hit 71 one day this week and the rest of the days were in the low to mid 60's - felt like late Sept early Oct and Doc you are right - just in time for school so we can sweat our balls off for a few days with a mini heat wave - if this is June we get pumped for this weather not in September.

After that damp start, today turned out spectacular! Had my daughter's and Son's grad party in our yard today and the weather was perfect! I could take a whole summer of days like this!

just checking in im still in LA. every day sunny and temps in the mid 80"s hot in the sun comfortable in the shade. beautiful weather for vacation! looking at latest models and forecast for ny looks unlikely that we will see any sustained heat. still possible though through sept but time is running out. if weather remains the same this has to be one of the coolest and calmest and pleasant summers in the last 15-20 years. looking forward to fall/winter. a little concerned about the talk of a cold and stormy winter. hope we don't get jinxed and still to early to tell IMO. be back on Tuesday hoping to meet you guys on sunday

Re: August 2014 Observations / Discussions Thread
Frank are there going to be any pool days this weekend? Or will it be the same cool that it has been, if Sunday is going to be hot and a pool day I MAY have to miss the lunch as I have not taken my daughter to the pool once this year, I imagine nonethel;ess since its been cool the pool would be pretty cold. I will probably end up coming and just going to the park on Saturday ort soemthing. Its a shame they close the public park pools here on labor day and we are going away the 29th and wont be back till the 1st. Headed to VT wil lreport on the foliage there, if its changing down here I imagine way up in central VT its even moreso. And I bet its gonna be really chilly nights (in the mountains near Okemo). It really has not been a "summer" I was very surprised at how cool it has been but no real complaints here other than the lack of any exciting weather. Although I do think Low electric bill, not sweating like crazy etc. I have a feeling this is all a sign "knock on wood, no jinx"of a heavy hitter fall and winter for nor'easters. Lookin' forward to that! Lets just pray we do not have another Sandy setup, I wouldn't be surprised at another early snowstorm nbefore the leaves fall though and we all know how troublesome that can be, or at least I do.

Saturday and Sunday look like the same forecast. Partly cloudy and temp in low 80's. Maybe some clouds Saturday morning with gradual clearing.

Re: August 2014 Observations / Discussions Thread
Our only chance of rain this week seems to come Thursday night into Friday morning with just a few showers. Probably not even half an inch.

I think it could get pretty warm by mid to late week next week. Heights are projected to rise ahead of a storm cutting into the lakes. Temps could get into the upper 80's and low 90's. Not a heat wave, but warm nonetheless.

Re: August 2014 Observations / Discussions Thread
With high pressure in control, we are looking at sunshine and temps in the mid to upper 80's (possibly 90+ on Wednesday) for the entire week. It is a great week to get to the beach if you have not done so yet, or before school starts!
Our next threat of organized rainfall will probably not come until early next week.

I heard that Facebook was "out" amongst the younger crowd. Lol. But it isn't going anywhere because us older folks, age is relative of course, still use it with pride. Also my email is still an aol acct. people have laughed at me for that. Sorry I know this post doesn't really belong here.Quietace wrote:It's pretty much what we use these days. Atleast kids my age.
