There will be a decent amount of cloud cover today and for the next couple of days. A lot of moisture is around and sitting off the east coast, and some of it could make its way into the area late Tuesday into early Wednesday. But it would be a light rain.

RECORD EVENT REPORT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW YORK NY
431 PM EDT SUN SEP 28 2014

...RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE SET AT NEWARK NJ...

A RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 87 DEGREES WAS SET AT NEWARK NJ TODAY.
THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 85 SET IN 1954.

I can't take Newark readings seriously anymore.....with all the air traffic and tarmac down there now compared to 1954.... would love to know exactly where the temp gauge is there...

Newark is like a bubble of warmth. I've froze leaving my house some mornings and late fall only to take layers off when I go to Newark for training. It's like another state. BTW, did anyone catch the mess-up on News 12 yesterday at 10am? It said Thursdays reading was going to be 89º LOL. Someone messed up on the number.

A lot of these clouds and showers can be attributed to the weak low pressure off the coast which is enhancing precipitation over the area at times. This will continue into Thursday morning. Pop showers are possible.

Some pretty big looking t-storms and good bow to that line in PA, are those going to affect the area at all tonight? I do not remember seeing those in the forecast.  So I can call off my Sat outdoor plans?  Will it be a heavy rain or light?

U know what, accuwx app makes storms look stronger than they are with alot of red when in other maps its dark green. I noted this after initital post that the line is mainly just rain. Nothing noted on NWS site.

Jman that is from our northern piece of energy that is closing off as an ULL centered over western Pa.  You can see our southern energy well off shore.

Was a little surprised to see my final September temperature departure of +0.3, only slightly above normal. The many good radiational cooling nights balanced out the warm highs.
