My forecast for tomorrow at Lyndon. I have tomorrow for the 1" contest for the school, kind of like we do here on this forum with the winter predictions, so hopefully i get that inch before the changeover and win!

Tonight A 40 percent chance of snow, mainly after 3am. Cloudy, with a low around 26. Calm wind. Total nighttime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Monday Snow before noon, then rain and sleet between noon and 1pm, then rain after 1pm. High near 37. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow and sleet accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Monday Night Rain and snow showers before 2am, then a chance of snow showers. Low around 26. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

I agree!
Hate cold rain. At least its not super cold today, tolerable in the 40s. The worst is heavy rain with mid 30s. Especially knowing its probably snowing 20 miles away.

Was that a lobster boat reference..lol  ??  I like it.  I would have seen that sucker moving in and we would have headed strait into it.  Giddy Up!

If not well then we just had a nasty squall line move through.  Torrential down pours.  Before work I had 0.8" in the rain gauge at 8am.  I bet I am at 1.5"

Yup. Thats a universal thing for those guys I think. The fleet out of Mt Sinai harbor would go out hell or high water from May through Sept/Oct. If one guy went, they all went. Unfort the LI Sound Lobster industry is all but dead since about 2002 or so.

south shore. 17 fathoms area, Ambrose Light house. Once every 2 weeks we would run to the edge of Hudson Canyon, those pots soaked for a good long time, big roaches in them but a 25 pot string had 3000 ft of line buoy to buoy, not fun, lol.

November 17th Storm Threat - Page 5 Empty Re: November 17th Storm Threat

Post by sroc4 Mon Nov 17, 2014 8:53 pm

We would run 10-15 pot trolls. All that line on the deck dangerous stuff when setting back. When I was about 20 I had a loop wrap around my foot. In the blink of an eye I was slammed to the back of the boat. Only by the grace of God did the bottom of my foot happen to land flat on the transom of the boat. Happened so fast I couldn't speak. Fortunately the other mate saw it and yelled to the captain who immediately pulled back on the throttle. The line cut through my boot and almost down to the bone.  Somehow I was able to yank my foot out and my boot shot 250feet off the back of the boat from the tension and I fell to the ground. Scariest moment of my life. Of course at the time I didn't realize how truley close of a call it was. Shook my Captain up big time though. He shut us down for the rest of the day which was unheard of. I was about 6-12 inches from being wish boned and probably not here to tell this story. Unfortunately the son of the man who owned the boats I worked on was not so lucky. He got pulled in with the lines. It took three days before one of the local trollers dragged him up. I'll never forget the call to the US Coastguard coming in over the VHS when they found him. I happened to be on my own boat fishing with a buddy of mine at the time the call came in. The kid was in his early 20's. Chokes me up to this day thinking about how lucky I was and unlucky he was.  Sorry I know this is off topic for this thread.

It def has to be watched. Def some merit there. H5 looks very interesting. Like frank mentioned in his winter outlook this could be a scenerio where get get a warm cutter which sets up an interesting winter set up for the coast. Still in the long range though. To be honest I haven't looked at it a whole bunch since is over a week away
