Yuck. Euro had it for 3 days lol
Fair enough and true had it, lost it and brought it back - but with in 36 24 hour time frame RGEM has been very good IMO this year.
It was too aggressive on the freezing rain, but overall, its been good.
Oh so true - reason being precip came in faster than modeled with cold air in place before temps or mid levels warmed? interested to know or hear so I can learn - dam teacher in me!

Scott,
Just looked at that map - how in the name of Joseph did wayne get 3.8" and every town around them measure 6-8" - must be the brother/relative of the CP ZK!!!!!!!! Who lives in Wayne here - please give us a measurement

Re: January "Blitz" Storm Observations
Mugs with that map you have to look by region. Those are based on individual reports at different times. You can assume Wayne got more

Pretty much done here light snow falling.
7.5 inches for final total, very happy with it and right in line with Franks map.
The Pros here did a great job with this one. The pro mets, not so good.

Back end snows are like Elvis. We think he's out there, and he shows up in pictures, but we never actually see him.Frank_Wx wrote:This is basically a huge dry slot we are in. Still have to get through the backend of the storm, if it holds together.

So you are saying Frank they did not update their report as of 8am like the other stations? Makes perfect sense - just thought the CPZK brother lived there and wanted to show his older bro up - you know the rivalry at times.

Back edge of this last batch almost here, CP. Looks like we bumped over 7 inches as you say. Light snow.
Very pleasant surprise Doc, a couple of days ago looked like we might be in a dry area. It must have come down fast and furious last night.
Did you send your email to NOAA yet? Just copy my letter from the e-mail the zookeeper thread. Don't worry the NSA won't track you for this, well probably not.
Done, CP, and I hope it helps out.
Yeah, thought we were going to get shortchanged on the models a few days ago as it looked like the bulk would be south.

Wayne has a hair under 7 inches. Can't wait for the kids to have their time in the snow. The Turkey Day curse may have been lifted and maybe winter has begun!

The 7.5 brings us up to 24.1 for the season now Doc.
Ordinarily that wouldn't be so bad but since half came in November not so great it makes the winter unbalanced, so far at least. However your HV effect so far has been A+.

4.8" measured on my back patio at 5 A.M. just during the start of the changeover. Now a compacted 3 inch snow/slush brick. (perfect for building my ice rink) My total for the winter is now just a hair under 8.5"

I measured at about 6am this morning 4.8", but it had been raining for about an hr. I am assuming it was 5 or a touch more total, but will stick with my official measurment. It does seem like as the reports come in with totals, anyone North of rt 25 or maybe 25A is an inch or two higher than points south.

Re: January "Blitz" Storm Observations
Freezing line at 850mb is crashing the coast. currently crossing through Manhattan and the LI sound. Now if only we can get the precip to fill in with heavier rates a change over would happen.

Re: January "Blitz" Storm Observations
There's an area of precip. developing over DC that I think could bring coastal section of NJ and maybe LI additional snowfall later this afternoon.
