Hey docstox12,I'm just a couple years younger that you.Do you prefer the modern ways with internet, models, maps, radar etc. feeding us all this info to analyze and decifer,or would you rather have it like it used to be where you woke up,looked out the window and said "Hey,looks like we got a pretty good storm last night." Remember putting snow tires on the car.One year I had studded snows that made so much noise because it was like rivets in your tires. And way back if you wanted to know about weather or not school was open you had to listen for your school to be announced on the radio.

I can't stand this modern model crap because of what happened to me tonight.Predictions of 20 inches and nothing.Yep, the good old days when someone like Tex Antoine or Gloria Okon on WPIX would give you a forecast and then you looked out the window the next day.

Oh yeah, the snow tires. Man, if you went over 35 MPH it sounded like a plane taking off,LOL!Listening to the school announcements on WINS news radio. My town, they blew the fire siren at 7:30 ,LOL

Thanks for the memories,GreyBeard and have a great day tomorrow!

Was driving all night until about 20 mins ago to spite them, about an inch on roads, unlike 4"+ on roads last year during 2/14 when there was no BS state of emergency driving ban and insane snowfall rates during the day and i had to go to work and almost get stuck. Maybe this is drunken irrelevant babbling but im pissed.

Well my final observation of the day at midnight in Somerville: Cloudy. Nary a flurry. I've had enough beer for now, so, I'll head to bed. Maybe while I sleep a couple of these heavier bands will sneak into central jersey and give me something to wake up to. Have a good night all!

ill prbly get banned from the forum, but this is dissapointing, and I speak for many, when I post this.....

I have no training, studying, just a guy who grew up in this area, has a sailing background and knows how to analyze 'dead reckoning' .....from having just walked from midtown manhattan to the UESit has to be recognized, real plans are made, life effected, FORECASTS EFFECT REAL PEOPLE!"......the wind is blowing northwest, that means the storm has shifted to the east (high pressure goes) any novice can note, the lp has dramatically shifted east)....just observations......in the UES, 3inches, 5inches, in drifts, i know you guys get sensitive, Im not calling out Frank, Mugs, Scroc, RB, etc, but Id say a serious discussionn amongst all METEROLOGISTS needs to be had, because this one goes up in the books as an epic bust, more responsability in this field needs to be seriously looked at....its not right guys....i know upton, lee, said all of this, but accountability needs to be brought up at some point....im frustrated with forecasting in general, not Frank etc which i know i will be accused of
