Is that the cold front squeezing whatever moisture is left out.
I have to say. .the snowpack on my block is impressive. Reminds me of last year. Except if you want to park a car then it's hell.

We have a thread on it.
All e-mails addresses are on the thread highlights.
We also have a place to post your replies. Their aware and always claim they're going to do something about it, and then they drop the ball again, like every storm this winter except the so called blizzard.

Just had my winter weather advisory extended until 9am for significant icing. Is this new precip? Or the freeze of the existing?

Well I made a measure at 3 AM before I went to bed of 2.3" and this was 1-2 hours before it changed over. I just did a measurement of 2.7" on a nearby sidewalk. I wonder if any snow from the previous storm was on there but given surrounding snow measurements, I think it's safe to say I got a combined 5.0" from the two events so that's what I'll go with.

Had 2-3 this morning and another 4 in the afternoon here in merrick when I got home at 6:30. Nothing as sweet as a 2 and a half hour commute home from work. so about 6-7 inches. Alot more than I thought. On to the next!

Not going to do a storm in review for this system. I like to do those mainly with the bigger ones. The updated final snow map verified nicely for parts of the region. With the secondary coastal storm developing, the areas within the yellow box saw higher amounts which I noted was possible. It was a great storm to track and nowcast. I'm ready to move onto the next one!

Do you still think the commute Tuesday morning will be icy? Not many schools in Middlesex County are calling for delays. I'm getting nervous. There was a lot of standing water and slush on the side roads that I'm sure has frozen over.

Yes, I do feel the morning will be icy. Not the main roads, but the side roads and untreated surfaces definitely will be. Just have to take it very slow.

Thanks Frank. I see they just extended the winter weather advisory until 9am. Maybe this will help school districts make a good call.

Yeah nice map Frank. Worked out good/ Only difference was the band that moved through Long Island between 1:30 till 6:30 west to east dropped anywhere from 3 to 6" in about 2 and a half hours. Very light powdery snow. Nice to shovel.Frank_Wx wrote:Not going to do a storm in review for this system. I like to do those mainly with the bigger ones. How serious are you about a plowable snow Thursday/Friday. I'm having hand surgery Wednesday and am looking to set up my neighbor to help me dig out if need be.

Not confident in plowable snow yet. Thinking 1-3/2-4 right now.
