Well, just checked NWS for me...the "flakathon" is now the "slopathon". Saw all those WSW way up north and knew this thing is going to be a disaster down here, just too far north.Frankly, I'd rather have rain in the 40's then this crap.

AS THE HIGH TO THE NORTH MOVES ACROSS QUEBEC...AND WAA ABOVE THAT
WILL LEAD TO A MAINLY ICE EVENT ACROSS NE NJ...NYC METRO...LONG
ISLAND AND COASTAL CT...WITH SOME PORTION OF THIS AREA POSSIBLY
SEEING 2 TO 4 TENTHS OF AN INCH OF ICE ACCUMULATION.

That ice map is concerning as its the initial one and they start really bullish, I forsee that going toward .75 yikes! But Monday was not bad so maybe we will escape a ice storm, still never seen so many ice maps in one year and none so high.

Alex we are all going to come crash in your dorm if we lose power, that's some serious friggin ice to go bullish at the start! And we know how conservative NWS is.

I didn't know this but this is what is considered the NY metropolitan area, it encompases a lot larger area than I though. I guess its same wording as tristate area (this to help with what alex posted above not banter).

The New York metropolitan area includes the most populous city in the United States (New York City); counties comprising Long Island and the Mid- and Lower Hudson Valley in the state of New York; the five largest cities in New Jersey (Newark, Jersey City, Paterson, Elizabeth, and Edison) and their vicinities; six of the seven largest cities in Connecticut (Bridgeport, New Haven, Stamford, Waterbury, Norwalk, and Danbury) and their vicinities; and five counties in Northeast Pennsylvania.

Oldtimer, I am not saying it will happen as they have gone bullish before and faild misterably but to predict that amunt of ice 2 2-3 days ahead of time is ballsy, and when it comes to ice with them even from when I was yonunger I always remember them being very conservative as to not scare people, I get the feeling this could be the real deal a all out ice storm for an area that historically never sees one, so better to prepare people thanbe caught off guard especially at the beginning of a new work week. We will see it could also go the other way and become more rain or more snow, but 2-4 inches of snow and ice (and the snow on top if the ice would just compound things even more. As for wind, well as Frank has pointed out I am not too good at knowing if that will verify lol, do not see much if any of a wind issue with this its weak.
