Here in NE PA elevation is playing an absolutely critical role. I live 25 minutes due east of Scranton and I have yet to see rain here since the event began. We've run the gambit of winter weather; although no freezing rain and only very little sleet. It's pretty much been flurries and extremely light snow showers here, but it hasn't been a "true" snow. The flakes have been heavily rimed, most likely because of a lack of adequate forcing and subsequent widespread crystal formation.

Re: February 7th-9th Observations
This storm is pretty much a bust. I knew there was something wronfg with the QPF output the models were saying. The upper level systems were too weak and the forcing was weak.

Re: February 7th-9th Observations
Radar stinks. They had said snow would start at 12 midnight.Just looks like a little light mix.Heavy snow bands in very narrow range in the Albany area.Time is running out on this one for my area.
NWS cut totals from 4 to 6 to just 4 tops now. They still say a southward drift of precip and expansion will occur. This is rapidly becoming a 2 to 4 event at best.

Re: February 7th-9th Observations
Quite the snow storm! Got about 0.2 of sleet on the ground!
24* light sleet/frz. rain mix.
Besides the storm on the 2nd, this winter has sucked.

Thin but slick coating of ice on driveway, sidewalk and road. For the pedestrian part of my commute, thinking I could easily break my neck out there...

Re: February 7th-9th Observations
24 * with freezing rain and sleet and a 5-10mph wind out of the NE. I'm definitely taking a snow day today. Not worth risking my car or myself with a 62 mile commute to NJ.

Re: February 7th-9th Observations
Cool, Definitely not worth risking getting seriously hurt or worse. Better to be out one day than being out for extended amount of time because you got hurt in an accident. Plus taking a chance wrecking your car. Your company isn't going to have deal with all the problems afterwards if something happens, you are.
Just not worth it.

Here is the HRRR for the rest of today. Let me know if this cannot be viewed. If you have dont have an acct with weather bell you might not.
Currently 26* with light snow in Wading River despite what this radar looks like. Light dusting. This system can suck it. I hate busting Low
