I understand being near the coast here on LI and getting ocean influence and mixing. I GET IT!! But it has been hovering between 21 and 22 degrees for the duration down here and still no snow. Unbelievable.

Because the precip is north of you and has been forecasted to be for the last 2 days, lol.

Vinnydula northern westchester has a coating. On an off snow showers this morning so far. It was sleet earlier.

RJ, when I woke up the car, sidewalks and streets appeared as if they had a light dusting of snow. It was a sheet of ice. Other than main roads, the side streets still have a coating of ice.

Hey Doc and CP, I think we will get our 4-6 inches if the snow continues all day at a good clip like it is doing now.

I've had on and off sleet for 7 hours sometimes moderate to heavy. Would have equaled a few inches of snow easily.

Right, but 850mb temps are not cold enough. Sleet/freezing rain has always been your forecast over snow. Not sure why you act surprised.

For those wondering why they're seeing sleet/freezing rain with air temps in the 20's, well, air temps are just one ingredient to seeing snow. You need all levels of the atmosphere to cooperate. In this case, 850mb temps are warm for most of NJ/NYC/LI.

That quick down pour left a massive glaze of sleet and ice all over, just that quick. Crazy

RB - moved it here for you.

Still holding at 27* ice pellets on the ground easy to scrap off. Looks like salters did a good job prepping the roads

24* and moderate snow now - was ripping here since about 10AM - delayed opening today - side roads were horrible. Main roads so so.

It keeps looking like the precip is moving out, but then redevelops, still hanging tough here in NNJ, all sleet by me and just a few flakes mixed in
