scott and pete my daughters bday was yesterday. she is 18. had to work yesterday so we are going out to dinner this afternoon. should have a descent day as precip is over and cold front will not pass until late afternoon so we should be near 40 once the clouds break.essexcountypete wrote:sroc4 wrote:Morning guys and Gals. received around 3" total as of last night around 9 before changing over. Brief change over back to snow this am but now is freezing rain. Which sucks because its my daughters B Day today and Im supposed to have a ton of family over. Hopefully we do see 40's but I doubt it.
That's funny Scott, it's my daughter's birthday today too. The slumber party is still going on as we speak, though they are all still out cold.
Good Birthday wishes to your daughter and I hope the weather clears up so all your guests and family arrive safely.

Storm for me was 4.5" of snow from 2 till 9 yesterday. Then freezing rain and rain from 9 till 5 am (about .15" ice covering most surfaces) then another 1 " snow from 5 till 730
Buon compleano alla figlia
Thanks James and Pete. Pete as soon as the girls get up send them out to shovel...lol JK of course.

Central Park 4.0 inches which appears correct.
Puts them at 28.4 for the season which is right at their 145 year average. Of course about 35 inches has actually fallen in Central Park.
Despite the dry slots and all that crap 4.0 inches of light powdery snow here. The HV effect came through despite the horrendous scroo job on qpf. Stayed snow the whole time, and high ratio. Considering the circumstances a success.

Great, CP, official measurement 4 inches.
Yeah, it was a bummer all afternoon watching that massive dry slot over us but around 10 PM it filled in and it looked like a good couple of hours of snow were going to hit us.It could have been much worse like rb out there.
I think in the winter contest I predicted 31 inches total for CPK this year, I'll have to look back and see.

If you did I suspect zookeeper bribery. I mean the under counts are always bad but this year he, her, it ar setting new records of incompetence. At least the last two have been in line.

The 145-year average is ~28.63. So not too far off from the average. Also, 2014-15 had featured more snow than ~55.86% of the previous snow seasons.

Pete and Scott happy birthday to your daughters. Enjoy this day and everyday with them and let them know how special they are and that Mother Nature thinks so too - she gave them the precious gift of her beauty -SNOW!!
Measured 4.5" her and what a storm turned over to the mix around 10:30 and when I got up a for an old man bathroom visit at 1am some of you know what I am talking about here, it was snowing again and the radar looked healthy.
Snow said it best, the best dam cutter I have ever seen!

That is impressive, I thought they would wait until mid morning and measured a couple compressed inches of slush.
I'd much rather have your powdery snow. I have about 4" of heavy wet snow with a thick layer of ice in the middle and again underneath. I underestimated the level of ice that would happen. Freezing rain mixed with melted and compressed snow left a icy mess. Fortunately streets are just slushy with temps in the low 30s and rising.

Wow stopped snowing at 745 here just north of new haven. Made out with 6-7 inches with about 45min of sleet freezing rain. Would of been more like 8-9 inches.

Another crazy storm in one heck of a crazy hear. I don't want to say I nailed it because I certainly did not. The jackpot zone was a bust in eastern PA and southern NY, but was a success in CT and MD. The unpredicted dry slot is the likely culprit. Everywhere else was ok though the 3-6 should have been moved to the coast and central LI. Overall, a B- sounds right.
Next storm is this Wednesday and another by Saturday. Wednesday storm is beginning to lose steam on the models. Saturday storm is all over the place.

Frank as always you do a great job. On to the next threats. Time to go clean the ice/slush from the driveway and hope it drys up in the warmer temps today

Good job Frank. That 2nd map with the actual totals that fell is ridiculous. No one could predict that much variability. Anyway Since your predicted pattern change at the get-together I'm at 49.5" IMBY in 30 days. Made up for Dec. and most of January quick. One more Godzilla would make his one of my top 5 memorable winters after a very frustrating and disappointing 1st half..
