Possible Snow Thursday 2/26
Good morning all,
A strong piece of southern upper level energy is going to track across the country and up our coast Thursday morning. As it makes its journey through the U.S. the energy will de-amplify but there will be enough left to possibly bring us some moderate snowfall on Thursday.
I circled the H5 energy so you can see what I am referencing. It slides to our south and at the surface develops a low pressure system that relies on frontogenesis forcing between the thermal gradients to produce precipitation, in the form of snow.
The latest SREFS and RGEM show at least a 2-4" snowfall but the GFS is offshore with the system and hardly has flurries. I will continue to monitor the latest model trends and update you all on what they show. At this time, I am not expecting much more then some snow showers that could bring us an inch or two. I think anything more then a couple of inches would be from SNJ to eastern LI. With no phasing expected from the northern stream and dry air also in place, it's going to be tough for this system to manufacture precipitation that reaches the ground.
We'll see.

OK! 3-5 for me, nice let the #northtrend begin! But honestly isn't the sref kinda outta range at this time? None of the globals show anything remotely close to this.

It should be interesting how upcoming SREF and RGEM runs play out.
Btw Alex, if I'm not mistaken, you said at the meetup that you were born on 12/26/95. If so, then you are 7,000 days old today (or 1,000 weeks old).

Re: Possible Snow Thursday 2/26
Everyone relax. Just saw the Rayno video he says MAYBE 1 to 3" as far north/west as D.C. No snow here the next 5 days other than some flurries. You want snow go 200 miles south or 200 miles NE. Snowhole!

Unfortunately, we only have acid rain up here, which is just terrible on my circuits.
Will be coming back to your planet in the Spring, so be sure to keep an eye out for me, puny flesh creature.
