High 84* here. 77* now.
Was just thinking we get a small window of pleasantly warm temps with low humidity here. That 84 a month from now probably won't feel
as nice as today.

Wow 1000 acres plus now threatening widely populated areas, thats a bad situation. I have been smelling smoke on and off for days, last night was from the Palisades cliff brush fire across Hudson from Yonkers. If you went to Yonkers waterfront you could see it. Hope everyone up there stays safe.

Re: May 2015 Observations and Discussions
Most of the rain will fall later tonight into the early part of the day tomorrow. Then we'll get back to seeing sunshine with temps rebounding into the 80's.

Re: May 2015 Observations and Discussions
Ok, two 80 degree days in a row.....that's enough summer for this guy. We can start changing the colors of the foliage and dropping our highs back into the 50s, 40s, etc. now :p
Actually, hold off on that; I would like one, just one, really good severe thunderstorm to roll through during the daylight hours so I can experience it in all its glory, then we can carry on with my aforementioned wishes ahaha

Re: May 2015 Observations and Discussions
Today is day 15 of no measurable precipitation for CPK. I remember back in 2001 it went 26 consecutive days without measurable precipitation (April 22nd to May 17th). Then Channel 7 weatherman Sam Champion would point it out each day during that dry stretch. In fact, as you may recall, from that spring all the way until August 2002, we were under drought conditions, with reservoir levels much below normal during that time. In fact, at one point a drought emergency was issued for NYC after one of the driest (and warmest) winters in 2001-02 with only 3.5" of snow. Then towards the end of the summer of 2002 and into that fall, we had some big rainstorms and the winter of 2002-03 would being a lot of snow (49.3"), and the spring of 2003 was very wet (especially the weekends ). Before you know it, the drought was a distant memory. Let's hope we don't go down that drought path. I can only imagine what Californians are going through...

And next week is also looking dry.
Drought alert.

Just back from a conference in San Diego, and it was certainly much nicer here. In San Diego it was low to mid 60s and overcast and breezy much of the week and we all lamented not being back here for the lovely weather. The locals said it was "cold", which I thought was cute.
