Bottomed at 44 this morning.

Happy to say goodbye to summer. Heat wise it wasn't to bad until the warm September weather.

Went to Middletown this morn I totally underestimated how cold it is in the early morn..Or I'm just not adjusted to temps in the 40s and low 50s yet.

Some upper 30s and low 40s have significantly accelerated the foliage up hear.

2845th? Sorry but being sarcastic, not sure what date your talking about. If you mean the 28th I think Frank said it could be a issue IF the HP pushes north and the system that was 97L moves north and develops into a stronger LP. I could be wrong though.

It looks as if the HP is going to supress the bulk of the moisture to the south with coastal sections getting some light to mod rain, with S NJ having the best chance of seadier rain.  If you believe the Euro light showers.  I do not see a Nor Easter on the horizon.  Gusty winds to 20-30MPH possible.

GFS total Precip throuth the 29th
September Observations/ Discussion - Page 8 Gfs_apcpn_neus_23

Euro has totals suppressed further south than GFS
September Observations/ Discussion - Page 8 <a href=September Observations/ Discussion - Page 8 Total_10" />

And CMC is on its own at the moment. It brings the Low up the coast more N to NE; whereas the GFS and Euro is more E NE

The HP suppresses this bad boy and then when it slides off the kicker in the Great Lakes comes in and ruins the party and pushes the LP east - hope this pattern changes in the next couple months Twisted Evil

Strange that the valleys are cooler than the higher elevations tonight up here in the HV.

Its not as atypical as you might think. Especially up here, On clear cool nights you often get deep temp inversions from the emission of long wave radiation. Cool air is more dense than warmer air and thus sinks down slope into the valleys. Example was 2 nights ago here, Plymouth Municipal airport had a low of 40 degrees in the valley, while Mt Washington at 2km was at 44. We are on the slope into the valley, so we didn't have the lowest reading, which i believe was near 35.

Noticed some foliage changing in mid August but the very warm September put it on hold. The cool, dry nights should accelerate that around here as well.

I don't know about you guys, but I have been having a lot of spiders with their large circular webs on my deck and around my yard lately. With my 30 plus years of weather experience that's usually an omen of a harsh winter incoming.

Funny thing about the acorns around these parts, and I don't mean to imply anything about the upcoming winter it's only an observation, but the heaviest drops are occuring a month later than usual.Perhaps this very warm September has something to do with this? I need Mako's advice on this one.

Hey Doc, as soon as i saw acorns i knew you would chime in, lol. Actually, the dry weather is the reason for the later drop, not the heat. With less water they take longer to mature.

They usually start around the first week of September. As Yogi would say, "It gets late around here early"
