@amugs wrote:Mother Nature will pay us back for this warmth come winter - you watch but as I said to my coworkers - Indian Summer ALWAYS has to happen around here.  Lets get this out of our system now like Al said and we move on from there.

Right on, Mugsy! We've had temps in the 60's and 70's in early November years ago. That's Indian (I should say Native American,LOl) Summer! It was above 60 degrees in early December right beofre the Dec. 11-12th 1960 Blizzard around here so things can change quickly. You guys here will see it when it happens like Frank did at the gtg in January last year.

it is certainly going to feel spring like for the first part of nov. and if the euro seasonal for dec. is correct spring like weather may last into dec as well. looks like we may have a repeat of last year with the slow start to winter. at least this year the expectations are not as high as last year.

I disagree. I think expectations are even higher.

Slow start sounds reasonable with these very mild Sept and October and now projected November temps.

It sucks for people like me who like spring and fall. I hate just jumping into winter after warm spells. I like a transition... Nice and cool fall to get you ready, and then winter. Oh well.

james every met and their mother had a wire to wire snow and cold winter last year. winter didn't start to the middle of jan last year and remember all those ready to jump ship by dec. 10th 2014? this year not one met has that same expectation. most have a back loaded winter starting sometime in jan. with a warm to mild dec. expectations much much lower.

Algae, our only snowfall last December was on the 10th and there was potential at the time for several snow events including the 17th, 21st, and around Christmastime.  As we got to within 5 days of each event, the snow potential backed off and with the GLC that occurred on the 24th, it was 62 degrees on Christmas morning and the next two days were sunny with highs in the 50s.  It was here that people were pretty much ready to cancel winter.  Well the week of New Years is when we saw seasonal cold and the following week is when we saw unseasonal cold.  With still not much to hope for around January 10th, we went to the forum meetup in the city (which I know you were at) and Frank looked at the ensembles that came out while we were there and informed us that January 24th was the date to watch for a shift to a pattern more favorable for east coast snow events.  Sure enough, it was that morning that the parade of snow systems began which lasted all the way through the end of March.

A total of two trick or treaters so far today. The record is 5 set in 2009. Going to be close.
