No words Mike, Rivera needs to catch against Nats, d'Arnaud can't throw anyone out. Noah got rattled and that is rare, no dominance last night. Reports are Matz and Noah have bone spurs in their elbows, but that they can play through it as long as they can tolerate the pain. Noah denies the spurs, but after last night, who knows. I'm going Friday night, hopefully to see a win.

5 games back now and the SS Mets has a huge leak.Pitchers with elbow spurs, hitters that can't hit, terrible baserunning, guys who aren't running out plays.

I am going back to the old NY Mets corollary, and I hope to hell I'm wrong, but this team since 1962, gets into the World Series every 15 years or so.1969, 1986, 2000 1nd 2015.It's just the karma of the team. You see what is happening this year.Alderson made some nice moves but I'll bet if he had his druthers he would have kept Danny Murphy! Murph deserved a contract for everything he put into the Mets. The difference in the standings between us and the Nats is Murph.

They better gets their act together because at this rate they will be 10 games out by AllStar. Very tough stretch coming up and they are playing like dog crap, very painful to watch.

Last year, there were three games the Mets won when trailing after eight innings. Two of those three games featured ninth-inning three run home runs by Daniel Murphy, the latter of which happened in Atlanta in September.  Gary Cohen's iconic "This team doesn't know how to lose" call happened as a result:

One stat brought up during the broadcast last night was that the Mets had losing records in both May and June last year (like this year) and still managed to get to the series. But with only scoring 2 runs in 23 innings is a real problem. All-Star break can't come soon enough, I'm sure they are all pressing.....

Yep, Murphy single handedly put that game away last night.Without him, the Nats would not be anywhere.Good payback game for the Murph.

Every July 1 until 2035, the Mets must give Bobby Bonilla a check for $1,193,248.20.

Now THATS what I wanted to see! We ain't dead yet! Great must win game , gutsy all the way.Cespedes monster home run and a rookie kid as the catalyst.Bullpen A -plus effort.Lagares set to return as well and D'Arnaud back in.Curtis has mild strain, should return in a few days and Matz still pitched well even with a bone spur. What a difference a day makes!!

Good to see you Mike, yes fun game as long as you were able to stay dry! Nimmo had a big night with his first ML homer and a spectacular catch in right field. DeGrom finally got some run support and a win. It helps that they gave out deGrom tshirts tonight!

Dunz, your post brought back a memory to me from the stone age.A buddy and I drove to Shea in his 1962 Chevy Nova in July 1969 when the Mets and Cubs were two games apart in the standings. We won that game and they said you could hear the fans screaming from the Triboro Bridge.A Cub Fan and his two small boys got up and left around the 7th inning.Cubs and Mets have a great rivalry and they must be fit to be tied that we keep beating them especially after the Playoffs last season,LOL.

6-1 since the Mets left DC. Now they host the Nationals for four games. Harvey on the DL. They will be facing Scherzer, Strasburg, and the rookie pitcher in the process. Yikes!

Not worried... only question is who is going to pitch Saturday. We got Colon, Noah, and Matz the other games. LGM!

Breaking News: Matt Harvey has been diagnosed with Thoracic Outlet Syndrome a condition that compresses nerves and blood vessels in the arm and shoulder which causes pain and numbness in the aforementioned areas. Season ending surgery is highly likely at this point, yet he could option for an injection to temporarily alleviate the pain to try and gut out the season. Surgery is inevitable though.

One doctor said it's not worth the injection, usually doesn't work. And the way Harvey is messed up in the head, he's better off leaving now and having the surgery.

I'm a life long Yankee's fan, but I have to give credit where's credits due. With all the mounting injuries the Mets are enduring, they continue to fight and show a lot of heart. After last night's game they showed me they have a very good chance to win it all. Believe me as I type this its very difficult for me to admit that. white flag

You are a good man nutley. As baseball fans, we have to tip our hats no matter what the team or loyalties are.

I agree with you, the Mets have guts and last night proved it.With our ace Harvey slated for surgery, and Matz 50-50 with a bone spur and Wheeler still not ready, we are in somewhat of a pickle for starting pitching.DeGrom looks better, Noah is great and Bartolo does his thing to help.We do need a reliable 4th starter and hopefully Matz can tough it out this season.I am amazed at the hitting these days especially Wilmer.Maybe that Jose pickup is a catalyst! He went yard yesterday, nice to see! Just hoping to split with the Nats but 3 or 4 out of 4 would be sweet.
