April 2nd-3rd Strong Wind & Possible Snow Obs.

puking snow right now. what happened to the wind?

Did the NWS miss this all week?

THE SNOW COULD ACTUALLY LIMIT WIND POTENTIAL EARLY AS COLUMN
COOLING LIMITS MIXING POTENTIAL...BUT WITH STRONG WINDS OF AT
LEAST ADVY CRITERIA EXPECTED AFTER THE SNOW ENDS...DECIDED TO
STICK WITH A CONSISTENT MESSAGE AND LEAVE THE HIGH WIND WARNINGS
IN PLACE.

AS THE LOW PULLS AWAY...THE ISALLOBARIC COMPONENT TO THE WIND WILL
BE LESS OF A FACTOR...AND GUSTS WILL BE MORE DEPENDENT ON MIXING
DEPTH AND PRESSURE GRADIENT WHICH WILL BE DECREASING. HOWEVER...THE
MIXING DEPTH WILL STILL BE PRETTY LARGE...SO EVEN WITH A DECREASE
IN BOUNDARY LAYER FLOW...GUSTS WILL STILL LIKELY BE FROM NEAR THE
TOP OF THE MIXED LAYER AND AT/CLOSE TO ADVY CRITERIA THROUGH MUCH
OF THE DAY.

I just poted NWS part of recent discussion but did they mess that part up big time? I just heard some wind but nothing like they made it seem like it would be.

jman it seems unless it's a hurricane or severe tstorm winds never live up to their potential.

Not even close with this wow. And it stopped snowing like it was. Back to bed. It's darn cold that's for sure.

Wind has been ripping here the last 2hours along coast.
A continous 21 mph gusting up to 52mph.

half hour of heavy snow slushy coating on car tops no wind. another disappointment in this winter of disappointments. oh well was nice to track though. going to bed.

The NWS definitely did NOT mess up on the wind. The wind is tearing through here right now. Sustained at 21 mph but these gusts are well over 40 mph likley higher. Whole house is shaking and rattling. Praying no trees come down around here but they will somewhere.

Wild weather. Tshirt yesterday now my most snow all winter. 3 inches on my deck less in other areas. Ride home was fun. Suprised any snow stuck with our recent temps. Snow squalls with wind gust knocking snow off trees made visibility hard at times. Snow looks painted on. Real photographic.

The highest gust by me was reported in Berkley Township of 62 mph. Gusting to 50 mph in Point Pleasant.

Was up around 530 and heavy snow with the powerful wind. It was an april blizzard. Whoa.
Strongest winds since Sandy. That's the last time its howled so much.

Howling wind, 2inches on the grass, maybe an inch on the walks and driveway.Very light snow.

at 7 am, 30 degrees in northern Orange County with about a half inch of wet snow. Sleeting now. The wind...some...but not really anything to blink about. What's this bring the total to for me...maybe 4.5 inches for the season so far.

Jman you need to come to my house with that wind machine of yours!! 31 sustained with gusts over 50 right now!! No sleeping in this morning this wind is Wild!!.. winds coming from west..we have no barrier with house on one side so feeling the force!!

Sheesh I guess, so its a little windy but like others up this way seems there is a cutoff somewhere. Does anyone have a current wind map shoing where the strongest are?

Well I guess it must be enough windy wetchester and the boroughs are reporting 5000 power outage and going up. restoration is 4pm, probably because they cannot go up in buckets until the wind is less than 35mph.

Its getting pretty loud out there I am gonna go out and check it out, I am ina rather sheltered area if I go up the hill its more of a crested area and open near the highway.

Ok nowwww it's windy already see report of tree down about a mile from me. Trees gping crazy.

It's roaring out here just been ramping up now.

Had some snow early this morning but the winds are howling right now my whole house is shaking it sounds like a freight train is comeing

Huge tree uprooted whole area out down road. I have power. I'll post pics later.

gusts of very heavy wind. worst I can remember since Sandy. At least the ground is not soaking wet. No trees down that I can see. Hope it stays that way.
