I think they were counting on more sunlight to create instability. The low cloud shelf we endured most of the day really snuffed out this threat.

Definitely overdid watches and warnings in NNJ. .5" rain, a few rumbles of thunder, not so much wind here, but I am on the Eastern downslope of a hill, haven't heard of any wind damage reports in the area.

the forecasts were for basically clouds all day long, so it didnt seem like they were dependng on sunshine to create enough instability.

so strange we just had a heavy Windswept rain for about 10 minutes no lightning no ThunderI was hoping to see lightning and thunder

There was def damages here because my area has over 2900 power outages. I never lost power through. Seems to be the biggest outage around Kingsbridge on the Bronx. But some areas in Yonkers too.

Not seeing a lot of damage reports in northern NJ, a few tree limbs down, small number of power outages. There is 1 report of a 60 mph wind gust in Hackensack

Very intense for about 10 minutes with Windswept rain very dark clouds but no thunder or lightning. Definitely looked worse on radar a few tree branches down but no outages around here

Not much wind but torential downpour with some thunder just shy of an 1.00 inch

high 87 here. 86 now. Right around most forecasts here of mid to upper 80s.
92 is kinda high but around 90 I could see at the Jersey shore on a west wind.

Maybe the 92° isn't so far off

today was a gorgeous day had a high of 85 deg looks like after tomorrow we will have a break summer weather looks like this week part of next week we will have highs in the lower to mid 70s

This is some chilly air incoming this weekend. LHV and HV looks to be 5*C 850's = 40 and upper 30's in colder spots possibly

Looks like some rain tomorrow in the afternoon. Very light. Sunday is beginning to look like a washout. I think the heat may try to return next week. The rest of this week should be fairly seasonable, some below average temps this weekend.

NAO tanks Wednesday and we get this trough that hangs for a good 5 days - lovely - temp sin the low 70's if that some days.

Just had amazing winds blow thru Ft lee, picked up beach chairs and blew them 100 ft , sheets of plywood smashed into cars 50 ft away!

It did get really windy, some rain, the bulk of it just north of here.

Wow i just drove down a stretch of road near me and the tre damage is crazy. If ypu know the area midland ave behind tibbets brook park. Most of it fell in the woods but large gap areas all along the heavily treed road from huge trees just snapped. Guessing from sunday. It is windy now. But wow that small area looked worse than some areas from sandy no joke. I'll try to take some pics on my way back.

lot of cells in Jersey but they are falling apart. One made it to the Hudson gave us some brief wind and rain and died right over southern Westchester.

I know that area, pass it all the time, I'll have to take a look.

Anyone know if there were recorded winds 60 plus in yonkers. The trees the splintered or upr.opted were big. It couldn't have been less than 60mph.
