Re: January 7, 2017 Storm Observations
close 758 miles to bermuda and bermuda is way se of NJ, so 300miles east of nj will give us a good swath of snow, if it was 200 miles or less this would be a crazy storm.oldtimer wrote:300 miles of the Jersey coast late this afternoon That's half way to Bermuda lol

Nearing 1" here on the Nassau/Suffolk border. Only really started in earnest about 9:30. Last 20 minutes became moderate. 21 degrees with what looks like 1/2" per hour+ rates moving in

Re: January 7, 2017 Storm Observations
Latest HRRR has basically at least 4-6 still to come (10 to 1) for all of NJ just south of the city and NYC east if I am looking at it correctly with it still snowing at 0z tonight north if I-195...looking like a pleasant surprise!!

700mb frontogenesis looks good. We're seeing enhanced DBZ bands spread through the area now.

Re: January 7, 2017 Storm Observations
Math I don get it u are expecting 1/2 foot to 8/10" under a wsw and u call it pretty decent. Heck we all want godzillas and roudzillas but in this set up this maybe the first time in histor of keeping records NYC session a 6" snowfall with a positive AO. Love ya kid but this is awesome as to where we were tis time yesterday!Math23x7 wrote:Been snowing for about two hours now. Looks like a pretty decent event for today!

The GFS needs to be shutdown. It is a disgraceful model.
