01/14 Light Snow Observations & Discussions

And as I say that poof a steady light snow has begun

Temp has dropped to 30*. Looks like the light snow here is starting to wind down. If so I'll call it a coating to .5" on non-paved surfaces.

Another Saturday storm 3rd one this winter. Better change for the upcoming patter.!

Moderate snow here in the Bronx for the last hour approaching 1 inch on cold surfaces and sidewalks now covered

Well golly, we have a coating here starting at 4 pm. 30 degrees.

Almost all the reporting stations in New York City have visibility under a half mile with moderate snow. It's a quarter-mile in Central Park pretty nice band coming through. Probably some ocean enhancement as we have a light Southeast to East flow at the low levels

JFK reporting 1" so far.

29 and snowing moderate to heavy. About a half inch. Sticking to roads, DOT is out.

28* snow here all covered even most of the roads calling for 1-3 locally tonight

Ha Ha..snowing here too and my son said the same thing!!! we need it to snow on a school day!!

31* and snowing moderately..currently a coating on cars and grass...

Looks like the Conservancy got it right so far. .6" of snow on .4le as of 4 p.m. Since then .3le Has Fallen so Central Park should be around an inch

Yup an inch here too. Pleasantly surprised.

This event is about to pass my "test". I don't consider snow an official "event" until the grass is completely covered with no green showing and the roads are all covered. I'd say we are just about there. 1.5" and counting.

Around an inch here. Nice surprise.

That's always the big test Al, they seem to F up the 7pm and midnight measurements all the time, 4pm for whatever reason always is on target.

BTW Doc if you're out there todays measurement is on you, I'm away this weekend.

28* and Cloudy here. Snow has ended. Just scraped the snow off my car. Scraped, not brushed, as it was frozen to the car.

.75" here, our totals slowly going up!

Well I have to say Pleasantly surprised. Def had some subtle enhancements this eve.. Official measurement is 1.75". Still very light beautiful snow falling. Light wind and tranquil. Wife is questioning why I'm standing outside so long. I insisted she get her boots on and come out. When she came out I said listen....do you hear that? The sound of the snow in the trees. She thinks I'm nuts. It wasn't a big snow but any surprise snow is a good snow. My avatar says it all. In the midst of a "Jan thaw" I'm a happy man. With dreams of what's to come.

Glad some of you are getting at least a little something out of this. We are getting NADA at the Jersey Shore, but I guess that's only fair. I'm still lightheaded from last weekend's big score...

Also, it seems a lot of you live in someplace called 'here'. Where is that?

Here we are past the 10 PM hour and snow is still coming down, albeit lightly.

Most of us have our location in our profile to the left. Unfortunately some don't, and they forget to post where "here" is!
