February 2017 Observations & Discussions
Will we have good snow events by this month? The cutter shown on the models doesn't help much.

46* and partly sunny. I'd bet I hit 50 here today or darn close. not a great start to February. unless you're hoping for early spring. lol. Let's see what Punxsutawney Phil has to say tomorrow. The squirrels in my backyard this Fall did a shitty job of forecasting the winter, maybe the groundhog has the edge on them.

Snowing moderately at 39 degrees.
Sleet and snow pack around 4 inches, a nice winter look for now.

Is this a joke? I'm about to lose it here. It was 48* with some sunshine here at 3:00. I've seen no snow. Not even rain. If you tell me it is moderately snowing somewhere in the region while I'm experiencing an almost spring-like day, after last Monday hearing reports of snow mixed with sleet while it poured rain on me, I will officially go to bedlam.

No joke it was just a 15 minute squall, dropped from 39 to 36 by the time it ended.
I don't want to rub salt in the wound but we've been encased in a mantle of white since the sleet storm 9 days ago. That sh!ts going nowhere. Still 3-4 inches thick and it never even reached a 5 inch depth.
Edit at 5:30 - 35 Degrees and snowing again.

CP, apparantely KBDR recorded their warmest January ever. Nightime lows never got below freezing for almost 2 weeks straight.

Yeah in CT you would think even by the water to go 2 weeks without sub freezing in January is pretty amazing, and disturbing I might add.

Re: February 2017 Observations & Discussions
My dad just called me about an hour ago and said they picked up 1.5" of snow in 15 minutes. Said it was snowing so hard he couldn't see 50 feet......with no wind. Said it was straight down snow. Apparently they've had squalls all day lol beautiful spring day here in Fishkill

The landscape is still snow covered it is cold outside. Beyond that I don't see anything to be thankful for weatherwise.

Re: February 2017 Observations & Discussions
You know that Excel file I put onto here regarding NYC seasonal snow statistics (the last time I put it on here was 4/10/16 which was before the January 2016 blizzard's snow total at CPK was revised. I plan to wait until April to put up the updated file, but here is a screenshot containing the 33 LEAST snowiest seasons on record. If CPK had no more snow AND does not get its questionable snow totals updated, it would be the 11th least snowiest season on record (at 11.1"). It currently qualifies as "much below normal" (which is a least a half standard deviation below the 147-year running mean). If it gets another few inches, it would simply be considered "below normal." Of course, it is interesting to see the snow seasons that will irk users, young and old, on here, including (but not limited to) 1972-73, several winters in the mid 80's to early 90's, the three consecutive winters from 1996-99, 2001-02, the back to back winters of 2006-08, and 2011-12, the latter of which the old WABC board went crazy on.

Looks and feels like winter so F the long range I'm just going to enjoy the winter I currently have. If the cutter washes away my snowpack Wednesday then I may call it quits.

Good CP, I agree. We had a nice little run up here with a sleet/snow pack and some cold.We may have a front end thump monday nite tuesday morning as well.It gets cold after the cutter so we may have some snowpack left.We will see.

27* and sunny here. Was very chilly with a cold wind walking around to a couple bars up in Morristown last night. Actually winter-like for a change.
