The winds behind the system on euro are abput ad impressive as the noreaster where we rained. 50 to 65mph. Maybe overdone but Def go cause issues especially if there is ice but so far frz maps only show in northern jersey into pa. Some excessive amounts like rgem had 0.6 on nj pa border. Rb feels there will b ice in all his shaded areas so we will see.

Not all of us rained from that nor'easter.
Aren't you serving a two weeks suspension about discussing any wind? Fear mongering for low totals from last storm, ring a bell?

Re: Sunday February 12th Possible Front-End Snow Thump
Well just got in from running errands and what do we have here hmmmmm...
Thanks for starting teh thread Frank on this and it looks to give N of I80 and decent thump and teh boys in the HV a very good thump.
My logical reasoning is coming to a head for you up in the HV - a good snowpack - temps went from 50 and rains in the NYC Metro to ice to rain and 30 reaching mid to uppers - that is what a Feb 7-10" snowpack can do - imagine now just imagine if it were what the snow maps Crapola were spitting out??? This would be a snowstorm north of I 80 and an umittingaing mess down to central NJ of ice and snow - a degree or two make a world o difference on this map for nyc metro!
Temps are an issue and BL will hang in tehre for some time - never underestimate the power of cold air with a snow pack at the surface!

Re: Sunday February 12th Possible Front-End Snow Thump
Def think u should I like comparing if u or rb was closer. But both of u make excellent maps and majority of times they both verify for at least a large part of the area. Frank Alex posted the snow map with the k word in it. I think punishment is in need? Lol that map doesn't even make sense it actually shows more snow in nyc on the regular euro map.Frank_Wx wrote:May try to put a map out layer today

Jman, count me in on the wind issues. My prior home in Mahwah NJ where I lived for 35 years was surrounded by 100 plus tall old oak trees, and high winds were always on my mind for fear of the trees breaking off and damaging the house. Also, I stay inside with high winds, no need to risk injury from limbs falling. My suggestion here is that moderators give you a special spot on the site for wind predictions and implications and those interested can click on for more info.

Re: Sunday February 12th Possible Front-End Snow Thump
The weather Channel app actually has Highland Mills for 5 to 8 inches tomorrow in an inch tomorrow night. 6 to 9 inch prediction for them is very aggressive for a storm like this. Hope that's not the kiss of death.

At exit 15 rest stop on NYS thruway. Heading up to mom and dads for the snowstorm tomorrow. They are under a WSW FOR 7"+. NWS POINT and click has them at 8-11". Driving home tomorrow night in the snow. Jman if I can do it with my family you can do it with a bunch of dudes from a casino. No need to cancel. Just drive my man.

The 100 year old oak trees got that big and strong. because they can handle worse than what we are going to see boys.

Re: Sunday February 12th Possible Front-End Snow Thump
JMAN FOR YOU - start a seperate thread for the winds if you'd like
.LONG TERM /MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...
An amplifying short wave trough closes off just off the New
England Coast Monday. At the same time, high pressure will
build east from the Mississippi Valley. Thus, there is the
potential for high winds on the backside of the low late Sunday
night into Monday. Right now, we are looking at NW gusts up to
45 to 50 mph, but they could be stronger. An eventual Wind
Advisory at a minimum will be needed, but High Wind
Watches/Warnings are possible.
