2 years ago today...this happened:

Tropical Storm Irene Anniversary 92e44388d2649d78be80d498c4a05873_zps2a2a578e

What a crazy storm that was. It had like 3 landfalls. Tremendous flooding. In fact, Irene caused more damage in my home town than Sandy did. Go figure.

What do you all remember best about this storm?

Irene was interesting. Most of my town evacuated, but my family stayed. Had some heavy rain, a little wind, a good nights sleep and it was gone. Never lost power, had only minor flooding around town, no problems what so ever in my house.
Other places especially north got hit hard. Especially up in Vermont and upstate NY. They got slammed with inches upon inches of rain.
The NHC did a bad job if i remember correctly with the intensity forecast with this one. I remember watching tv a few days before saying it was going to be a 100mph hurricane when it was near the area. I think i got a max wind gust around 60.....if that

Winds were definitely not much of an issue with this storm. However, rain was. A lot of areas saw 5-6 hours straight of heavy rain. Northern NJ flooded severely since they have many rivers (including my town). Many homes destroyed due to flooding. Sandy, for us, did more wind damage. Did not get much rain (maybe 2 inches).

I was vacationing in Seaside Park, same house I'm in now and jad to evacuate to my Aunt's house in Brick...I didn't sleep much at all, dozed with the weather chamnel on so I would hear the tornado warning alerts..we were under tornado warnings all night, neither house lost power or had damage though there was wind damage in the county.... it was also around the same time we felt the earthquake in Virginia.....shaking and baking on the beach!
