Come on rb really? A quick check proves this a hoax. Nasa never said that and it's not happening.

Re: Dog days of AUGUST Discussions/Observations
Yes Doc is been very cool at night this month even in the park only four days have had temperatures above 70 degrees for nighttime lows with 73 being the max minimum temp at Central Park. Will probably have the next two nights in the 70s for Lows and that should be it for the end of the month. very cool shot coming up and looks to be one following this for early September. Very rare in this warm and warming climate to have this many cool nighttime minimums.docstox12 wrote:Another morning in the 50's, 56.4 right now.Warm, in the 80's to Wednesday, then a cool period 70's-50's coming up.

Severe threat today is intense, tornado watch up north, 95% chance of watch issuance in NJ and western NY, the lines look mean, also cape and psc are off the charts as is shear. SPC of 9! Thats supercell criteria they get in midwest, thats NYC area right now.

If you like fall weather you're going to love the next 7 days. Below normal temps for a week. When was the last time that happened in August. A very anomalous trough moving in.

Re: Dog days of AUGUST Discussions/Observations
What's impressive is that the models had this timeframe pegged almost 7 days out. Hope we can say the same for our winter season.

80* and dewpoint around 70*. Line of storms moving in. Already getting frequent lightning and ever-increasing crashes of thunder. Should be in for a pretty good storm here in the next 15 minutes.

Re: Dog days of AUGUST Discussions/Observations
We had nothing much, just some lightning and thunder...kinda nice to see the show. It lit up the trees for a few seconds here and there. Some rain, and then it all moved by. I guess the pool is done for after yesterday's hot weather. Sigh...

Re: Dog days of AUGUST Discussions/Observations
Cool storm down in Seaside Park. Tons of lightning, 1" of rain, although I'm sure it was more since it was blowing sideways! Winds looked like they were going to whip the flags right off their poles.
