Well now EPS saying second week of set cool BN as well now. So 1st two weeks of Sept as Aug rolls into it are going to be like we are experincing now but temps a few degrees cooler as a trough sets up shop over the GL/NE at the 500mb level. Hope this pattern can hold through DJF!!

Re: Dog days of AUGUST Discussions/Observations
And October like day coming late this week as mugs has pointed out hopefully this pattern can last through winter and something that RB has been harping on since early summer.
Nws disco
The upper trough becomes cut-off over northeastern New England and southeastern Canada Friday and moves slowly into the North Atlantic Saturday. This sets up a deep NNW flow and allows a cool high pressure system to build over the region. 850 mb temperature anomalies on the GEFS and EPS means range from -6C to -10C degrees below climatology for this time of year translating to an early autumn like day on Friday. Highs in the upper 60s inland to the lower 70s near the coast are forecast with nighttime temperatures falling well into the 40s inland and into the 50s near the coast. Only slight moderation in temperatures expected on Saturday with readings in the lower and middle 70s.

Re: Dog days of AUGUST Discussions/Observations
Based on radar interpolation and recent HRRR runs 8-10am looks good for precip to reach I-195. HRRR/HRRX brings heavier banding into JS/SNJ by mid afternoon as the low makes its progression NE. Based on how the precip shield is distributed and heavier banding limited to the coast there will probably be a sharp gradient in total accumulated precip. NW areas could see less than .25", while coastal areas, specifically SE NJ and ELI could see .5-1.00" precip. Even so, a overcast showery day, with steady easterly flow is on tap for tomorrow.

Re: Dog days of AUGUST Discussions/Observations
I'm seeing reports that remnants of Harvey will be here in NJ for both Saturday and Sunday delivering tropical moisture. Is this realistic? Will it stay south and go more out to sea? Just trying to get the expert opinions from here to see if our end of summer weekend is going to be ruined.
