While everyone’s eyes are out their window, I’m looking at Monday night and seeing a possibly nightmarish setup for North Jersey. Snow changing to an extended period of sleet or worse, freezing rain. Could make Tuesday AM commute a mess.

Re: Long Range Thread 16.0
In North Jersey it appears that there is an extended period of mixed precipitation Monday evening, maybe freezing rain, but then it goes back to snow before daybreak Tuesday. I'm thinking with the snowpack and arctic temps this weekend it will be hard to dislodge the cold air at the surface which means the odds of a changeover to plain rain are not good. That tells me most people (north of say a line from Trenton NJ to Belmar NJ) stay in frozen precip one way or another. Snow, would be preferable. On many levels.

You also appear to go over to mix then back to snow. But I’d think you stand a better chance of all snow since you’re further NW and higher elevation.

Lol. Sorry can’t help myself. As soon as one storm ends I look to see when the next is on the horizon. Actually in this case it was while it was still snowing.

I know surface usually does not respond far out but I see no storm over us at all in 10 day, when is the time frame? And when do you expect a storm to start showing?@rb924119 wrote:@jmanley32 wrote:Another 3-6 Tues, oy, I need a bit more of a break, but that would put a big snow pack, this might be one those years it piles upo in feet. Re: Long Range Thread 16.0
I’m probably oversimplifying Jman, but energy will move onshore in the Pacific Northwest tomorrow night and dive South this weekend. The low will pick up some gulf moisture and start moving toward the mid-Atlantic from the Tennessee valley at the same time some cold air is diving south with a wave from central Canada. These systems will arrive here late Monday into Tuesday. What happens then, is the question.
