You have to love this map, our area 8-15 and beantown gets 3 and most of eastern Massachusetts rain.
I think everyone would take this. We deserve this map for what a headache this storm has been lol

Re: January 4th Snowstorm: 1st Call Snow Map
The dark blues on this graph represent areas of subsidence on the NAM. An area between two heavy bands of snow could be "dry slotted" in a sense. There is always a "screw zone" with every big/powerful storm and it's unpredictable where it sets up.

RH IS SHOWING GREAT LIFT AND PUTS THE LHV AND NNJ BACK IN THE GAME!!

945mb !! Holy smokes! Frank do you think those winds on the 3km nam verify? I dunno how well they do compared to the Euro that always seems to be high, 3km nam i usually do not see come in this high except for LI but they got HWW or BW all way back to NW of NYC verbatim.

Let's not get greedy. Lets revel in the 12-15 and that Beantown is getting 3 inches and eastern Mass rain. How can you ask for more than that?

N & W people relax - the inflow is awesome. Precip will respond.
250 jet structure will aid in this development just give it its due here.
LI peeps better not say boo here - you are getting teh goods big time this is about getting the NYC on W and N to share in this.

They never seem to reach the surface which is why I don't talk about them much unless I feel like conditions were ripe. In this case, I do not. Jersey Shore and LI obviously will see the best gusts.

The expanse of snow over Florida is something to see. Right now 36* with heavy rain in Jacksonville but snowing heavily just 10 miles west of the center of Jacksonville and as far south as Gainesville. Wow.

Are we going to live and die with the NAM right now even though some of the other models are MUCH less impressive? Anyone have the HRRR

Still too early to look at HRRR. RAP is in line with NAM. SREFS trended wetter this morning. Bring .50 to NYC. Consensus might be a mix between NAM and global models. We'll know more when the globals come out.

Anything is on the table and this has as good a chance as any others and has support from the major models as disappointing as it would be.
