I would hope none of us take this to serious. We are talking snow measurements here not race, religion or politics.
Of course not!!! Well, I take it somewhat seriously, I won't lie ahaha but not the goofing around part; that's pure entertainment lmfaooo btw, I think syo lost his last marble. You see what he wants to do in his last post??? Pure lunacy!!! I think some solitary confinement over on OTI might be the only remedy to cure his disease........though by the sounds of it, it may be voted on for me to join him, at which point it would no longer solitary ahaha

Re: January 16th-17th Snow Event
You guys are too funny, had about 2 inches, more than I expected. I expected 0 soooo LOL
Hey Al, Where you getting that extra accumulation of 3.5-4 inches from? I must have missed a storm in my totals cuz no way you got 4 inches from one and I got nothing, can you check my signature and let me know if a date is missing, or anyone else cuz we usually record pretty much the same snow living very close by.

LOL, this is all classic material! I think this storm pulled some major fast ones on a local level. Case in point rb and jimv's area with the inch or two differences. Here in my area there is a 'trained spotter" who measured 6 inches when I went out with a ruler immediately after the last flake flew and had a grand total of 3.5 inches.J man and Al's local differences illustrate that area as well.Really weird but it was a lot of fun yesterday.

I’m offended. Seriously! You’re invading my snow safe space! Im going to protest by Marching and blocking traffic in Manhattan. Then when that’s over I am going to re-institute the former zookeeper as CPK’s official snow reporter and buy myself a flamethrower which I will drive around with in a Orange County melting all the snow I see.

Spoken as a true "snowflake"!!!!!!

My school this morning GreyBeard, CP and the like. Only 11 miles from my house. Literally no snow less than 1 mile east of here
If you look you can see where they shoveled. And I’m telling you there was a lot of melting and compaction

You need to use the rulers Al and I do from our puberty years. We used the metric system to measure certain things because the numbers were bigger

I know you're just joking but in the back of my mind I could see you doing the flamethrower thing driving around Orange County. I will probably have nightmares about that for the next week.

Sorry syo but I can't accept this photo as proof without a timestamp. You might have just pulled it from your photo archives

And why are everybody's photos sideways all the time?

How do we even know this was taken on LI? He could have driven up to the Tug Hill Plateau and taken this. Well maybe not there, there would be five feet of snow on the ground, but you get the idea.
I want a dated newspaper taken in front of a municipal building clearly marked with the towns name and address engraved on the front of the building. Until I see that this is just fake news.

I’m going to have a talk with Doc and going to invest in some stocks. Then with the money I make I’m going to be a gentleman and install the following on CPs entire property.

I submit the following as evidence to the jury of my claim: taken at 3:19am this morning in the virgin snow at my work -

Same picture with the time stamp, as requested by our Judge, CP:

That's proof of exactly 3.5", which is explicit proof of my claim and ability to judge snow depth with a reasonable degree of accuracy. If the jury recalls, I did say it looked to be 3-3.5" on the ground by my eye when I arrived at my place of employment. My sentencing is in your hands now, and I trust you will take this evidence and use it to rule fairly and properly. I await the final verdict with bated breath.

Sorry rb, but your timestamp is questionable. It only states today, without a date, and it appears awfully bright out for 3:19 AM.,therefore I must reject it on both of those grounds.

I do give you partial credit for having one of your pics oriented properly though

Street lights from the parking lot. How else would it be lit at 3:19 in the morning? Unless I went to Alaska seven months ago, which I can assure you I didn't as you would all have known about it, in our region nothing besides artificial light could provide light at that time on our area.

I seem to have struck a nerve. Artificial light on artificial snow perhaps?

How do we know you pushed the tape all the way down. Looks to me like you only inserted it 1” into the snow therefore making it look like 3.5” when in reality it’s 5.5”

Though dost protest to much. I feel the squirming as the noose tightens.
I submit to you the NWS measurements from Dutchess county and they range from 4.4 to 10 inches. I should also add that Ulster county directly across the river from you every measurement is 6-10 inches. I'm sure it's very possible your one location had 3.5 inches and the 40 mile radius around you all had 5-11 inches, that happens all the time and is not at all unusual and I'm sure you believe that.
Now I have to go it's time to feed my unicorn.

CP and syo, I can't stop laughing. Unfortunately for rb, the link provided by CP would be considered a true timestamp and you should accept it, as bitter a pill as it might be to swallow.

You, my expert forecaster friend know how to take a joke. That in itself is appreciated, but don't ever under measure again.

Well I live in Fishkill down by where 84 crosses over 52, but my work is about 400 yards from the East Fishkill Police Department where 376 intersects 52, and directly across the street from the firehouse.
